Works well...
I first bought this at a discount store long ago. I use a dab of it after showering and it does a good job of keeping my hair under control. If I don't use too much it is invisible...keeps hair from flying around... Water-based...it doesn't "wet down" your hair. I use it on damp hair...

Very large bottle. Very happy because we can’t get it in our local store anymore.
Great value for the money.

My 3b hair is happy
I needed to find new products after moving to a new climate. My (3a/3b fine/low porosity/dense) curls lacked definition and were straggly/stringy/frizzy. Someone recommended I switch to a gel for more hold during the drying process. I had seen this mentioned as a "holy grail" item for a few curlies, so I figured I'd give it a try before trying more expensive products for Devacurl/Ouidad/etc. I'm hooked! I wash and condition my hair and put it in a towel. Then I apply about a quarter sized amount of Cantu's curl cream (mid back length hair, but fine strands) and about a quarter sized amount of this gel, switching between raking and praying hands. I give it a quick brush through with a Denman, and then let it air dry or diffuse! Then I scrunch out the crunch with a few drops of whatever my oil of the month is. It works great! I find that this dries pretty soft for a gel, especially if you "squish" it in when your hair is wet (rather than let it sit on the surface). The crunch also breaks pretty easily. All in all, definitely worth a try!

Not for "sport"!
Hi, I realize I am not the normal reviewer profile for this product. I am a guy growing my hair out to donate to charity. I have never had long hair before and it is driving me crazy. Because I need to focus when I play disc golf, I can't have whispies on my neck and ears when I play. It tickles and I miss my shot. I bought this product so that I could glue down the remaining loose hairs after I make a pony tail. If it is cold out, or I don't do anything that would cause me to sweat, everything is fine. However, the moment I sweat much at all this product re-liquifies and starts running down my neck, face, and ears. Further, whispies pull loose and wrap themselves around my ears: exactly what I am using the product to prevent. I would give it a pass except the product specifically says it is for sports applications, even includes it in the name of the product. However, for sports where you sweat, it is literally worse than nothing. I understand that most women just "glisten" not sweat, so maybe not a problem for women. Furthermore, I haven't read any reviews where a woman discussed actually working out or participating in any sports while using this product. That is another reason I decided to write this review. If you are going to sweat, don't use this product. Otherwise, I have no particular complaints. It does not have a strong odor, and if you are not doing anything really active, it holds fine. It just should not be labelled "sport".

Great For The Curly Girl Method!
I'm a type 2C wavy. My hair is super fine but I have TONS of it. Folks with my hair, you know how hard it is to find products that don't weight down this hair type or make it look greasy.I put enough of this into my hair directly after squishing to condish to make a satisfying squelch sound, plop for a couple hours, then air dry. This gel is great! It doesn't give me a wet look, it's not crunchy, there's no stickiness, and it's never given me flakes.I just get defined waves that are still soft, and frizz free as long as I don't fall prey to the temptation to run my frizz-causing fingers through it.The scent it very mild, which is perfect due to my sensitivity to fragrances.I'm a fan!

Mixed feelings
Not quite sure what to think about this gel. When I first started using it, it felt like the best gel I've ever put on my hair. Wonderful hold for wavy hair with a good cast, I was truly thrilled. However, within a few weeks it definitely contributed to turning my hair into straw and consequently messing up my wave pattern and turning my hair stringy and lifeless. I've seen other users saying a similar thing and blaming the protein content in the gel for it.Another issue I'm having with it is how extremely liquid and sticky it is, leading to drying the hair for ages. When diffusing with this gel on my hair, I need almost an hour to dry it completely, compared to about 20 min I needed with my previous gel brand! So from now on this gel will be a big no for me sadly.

My go-to curly hair gel
I have been buying this gel now for about 3 years now and thought it was time to write a review. I have wavy/curly hair (2c/3a curls) but find my hair gets weighed down easily by products. This gel has a strong enough hold for me but does not feel at all heavy or sticky, so is perfect for my hair. The bright blue colour is a bit off putting at first, but it feels very natural when in your hair. As it is not too heavy, it dries quite quickly (if air drying) and leaves a cast which can be scrunched out. Once scrunched out, I can't even tell I have product in my hair as it leaves no residue. I usually style my hair by using a little bit of the Cantu Curl Activator Cream on wet hair, then use a denman brush to style my curls, then scrunch in this LA Looks Sport Gel and the end result is soft, shiny curls. The only negatives I can think of are that it is not as strong hold as some other gels (e.g. Harry's Sculpting Gel) so it can be more difficult to refresh (and also I am a bit more careful when diffusing than I would be when using a stronger gel), but it is still the gel I use most often. The price is also a definite plus as the bottle is very large so you get a lot of product for your money. It's worth noting that the price fluctuates on Amazon so if you like this gel it's worth keeping an eye out and buying it when the price goes down (it's now currently showing as £7.95 but I've also seen it for £12).

Great gel for curls
I have been working towards healthy curls without using silicones and sulfates so this gel is perfect for what I want. It is a strong hold gel however I applied to very wet hair so it wasn't to strong. Once my hair was dry I scrunched out the cast leaving my curls soft and shiny. I would definitely recommend this for curlies and for putting your hair up. I've used some very expressive gels and not got as good results and for the price it's fantastic. Edit- a year later and I still think this gel is one of the keepers! Works so well for me and would highly recommend to anyone with similar hair to mine. Fine, medium density, higher porosity.
