If I put any hay directly on the bottom of my guinea pig's cage and it gets wet (urine or spilled drinking water) it tends to stink, so keep it dry (or remove when wet) and everything will be fine! If I had access to a car I might consider making a little extra effort to pay less at a feed supply store, but since I live in the city I can't beat the price and quality! Note that I also supplement their diets with about 3 heads of lettuce/week and daily additions of pellets. It is nicely packed to ensure no moulding. The quality is great and my rabbit loves the taste since he now eats twice as much hay as he used to! The price was cheaper than pet store hay and it was delivered to my door (no more going out to buy hay). My only complaint is that my rabbit likes it too much and will probably eat way more hay now making me buy more than I used to so I haven't really saved money in that respect.
