More of a workout than I expected and that is a good thing
The exercises in the app are varied and are as challenging as you need because they are customized every time you use it. I have seen that listed as a negative, but I don't understand why. Every time you start an exercise, you do a quick strength test to set the level of resistance for that exercise. It is quick and easy and makes it so the correct resistance for that time is set. The resistance has been trending up as I strengthen those muscles, but it also allows me to exercise effectively on days I don't have as much in me like the week I wasn't feeling well. I just didn't use my other $2500 of home fitness equipment at all that week, but I never missed a workout with the Activ5. While I didn't work as hard that week, at least I got workouts in. Could the software be better? Of course, I have never seen any software that couldn't improve. That being said, I like the app and it works very well for me. I mention that it can be improved because I have had many apps that it seems like development has stopped and you get what you get. That is not the case here. The app is in active development so it can keep up with new ideas and improve when needed. I have not run into any bugs, nor do I have any specific suggestions, but it is good to know the app is being kept up. For instance, On the November 6th, 2020 update they added a scheduled reminder feature. I have usually remembered to use it, but there have been a few times I could have used a reminder. Good work adding a feature that I now use but never knew I wanted until it arrived. There is a recommended routine that varies, but you can also choose a routine to target your needs. That may be a specific muscle group you want to work on, or it may be as simple as choosing a routing you can do at your desk. This is a great addition to my workout routine. I debated buying it because it looked expensive for a little handheld scale. I should not have waited. It is one of the cheapest and most used pieces of exercise equipment I own. I paid about the same price for half of an exercise ball for reference. Now the negative. The phone stand that comes with it doesn't fit my phone (Note 20 Ultra) with a case on it. I also find it difficult to place the phone in a good position for viewing during some of the exercises. I deducted a star for this issue, although honestly I am not sure what they could do to solve it. I bought a phone holder that goes around my neck and holds the phone in front of me. It is not perfect, but it works well for me.

I really wanted to love this, but I do not :(
I am a physician who is always looking for ways to make exercise more fun so that I will do it more often. Unfortunately, this product did not quite fit the bill. It has a lot going for it. The concept is brilliant - make doing isometric exercises fun - turn it into a game! I am all for it. The packaging was fantastic and there are a lot of apps to download to help you gamify some real isometric exercises. Isometric exercises are a very solid and real way to build strength, muscle size, and muscle tone, so everything seems good - right? Wrong - thought the packaging and the apps look top notch, the overall product really is not. It is incredibly hard to get in the proper position to do the exercises and still see the screen. When I could actually see the screen the exercises did seem decent and that they would be helpful over time, but it was truly impossible for me to do exercises with good form and see and interact with the screen to play the game. This misses the whole point! Also, I found connectivity very difficult to accomplish and that is not a problem with the myriad of other bluetooth connected devices that I use. It seemed to always want me to identify and set up the unit every time before I could use it. I want to build up data over time, but it seemed I was starting fresh each time I used it. All in all, it is a lot of time and setup for very little actual exercise and no ongoing accumulated data. I was bummed, because I totally love the concept of this thing. In summary - Activ 5 is very well made and very well packaged, but the professional appearing apps seem to hard to use both in practice doing the exercises and by odd connectivity issues. I will keep trying every now and then and update if it works better.

Amazing Little Device
I am so glad I found this.I was looking for something which I could use to help get back into shape after neglecting exercising for far too long. I have to admit that I had doubts that this was more than just simply a gimmick, but after going back and forth about purchasing it, I am so happy I finally pulled the trigger and bought it.For me, it just works. I have only had it for a few weeks now, but I can feel the results. My body feels stronger and more flexible. My joints are less stiff, and most importantly I feel increased blood circulation. I know that I could probably do the same exercises without the device, but to actually have feedback on much weight I am 'lifting' and how my strength is improving is a real motivator.Do I think that Activ5 will make me stronger and healthier? Yes. Do I believe I will get a bodybuilder's physique from using it? Absolutely not. But that was never my intent.I do wish that Activ5 would create a similar device for pulling motions like the Isokinator but what Activ5 does, it does well.

Like the phone feedback
One star off for the stand arriving broken. One star off for Bluetooth issues. My phone has to have location on to discover the device. Also, the device is forgotten when I turn off Bluetooth. Therefore, it has to be paired every time I use it. Added one star back. I really liked the phone interface once I got it up and running. Trying to maintain a line on a graph proved an effective way to keep me engaged. Now I just have to stop procrastinating and do this more than once.

It works!
I bought this thinking I would pack it and use it when I travel for work. The app has a lot of different workouts, all of the exercises are explained well and have pictures to guide form. The device measures strength and increases difficulty as I progress. I started using it on the first trip, doing the "six week challenge" in the app. I'm on week three and can see muscle tone, my balance has improved and I'm building a solid exercise habit and having fun seeing such fast progress! I've used it three times a day for five minutes each time. The workouts are so quick that there is really no excuse not to do it! I would definitely recommend this device and app to anyone who wants to increase their fitness!
