## Overview

Nemasys Leatherjacket Killer is a natural, biological treatment containing millions of Steinernema Feltiae nematodes designed to control leatherjackets on lawns up to 100 sqm. Best applied in Autumn when soil temperatures reach 10°C, it offers a safe, chemical-free solution that’s pet and child friendly. The product requires refrigeration and has a 2-week shelf life, with flexible application methods and a double-strength option for tougher infestations in spring and summer.

## Description

Control leatherjackets naturally by treating with Nemasys Leatherjacket Killer containing millions of natural nematodes – mix with water and apply the nematodes (Steinernema Feltiae) to the infected lawn with a watering can or EasyNem Applicator or Nematode Applicator. Nemasys Leatherjacket Killer is a natural product and is totally safe for children, pets and wildlife and the lawn can be used immediately after application. It is best to treat in the Autumn i.e. Sept/Oct/Nov as this is when the leatherjackets are newly hatched, the soil is warm (needs a daytime soil temp of 10c) and are at the most susceptible to the nematodes. You can treat at other times of the year i.e. in the spring and summer, but you must treat at DOUBLE STRENGTH as the mature leatherjackets are much harder to kill. Nemasys Leatherjacket Killer is a perishable product, which will keep for up to 2 weeks in the fridge, so please order when you are ready to apply. This pack of Nemasys Leatherjacket Killer treats 100 sqm in the Autumn or 50 sqm when applied at double strength. Full instructions included. N.B. It is a perishable product which is sent by 1st class post so please order when you are ready to apply.

Review: It's a process, not a miracle – but it 100% works if you do it right. - My lawn was an absolute state. It was yellow, patchy, and every morning it looked like a flock of crows had held a festival on it – just ripped to shreds. After digging up a patch, I found it was riddled with leatherjackets. I was hesitant to use a biological treatment, as it sounds complicated, but I'm so glad I did. This isn't a "spray and forget" chemical, it's a living product, and you have to follow the instructions to the letter. Here are the vital tips that made it work for me: Timing is EVERYTHING: I applied this in early October. You must apply it when the soil is warm enough (above 10°C) and when the leatherjackets are small and active (usually Aug-Oct). Applying it in spring is less effective as the grubs are too big. It's Alive: As soon as it arrives, get it in the fridge. It has a short shelf life. Do not buy it "for later". Application Day: This is the most important part. The nematodes (which look like a fine, clay-like paste) need water to travel through the soil. You CANNOT apply this to a dry lawn. I waited for a week of miserable, rainy weather, which was perfect. How I Did It: I used a standard watering can with a coarse rose (a fine one will block). I mixed the whole packet into a bucket of water first to create a "stock" solution, stirring it well. Then, I'd add a bit of that stock to my watering can, top it up with more water, stir again, and apply to one section of the lawn. Repeat until the lawn is covered. You must keep stirring to stop the nematodes from settling at the bottom. Aftercare: Keep the lawn damp for at least two weeks after application. My rainy weather solved this for me. The Result: It is NOT an overnight fix. For the first two weeks, nothing changed. Then, gradually, I noticed there were fewer and fewer birds attacking the lawn. Now, fast forward several months, the lawn is recovering beautifully. The patches are filling in and I've had zero new damage.
Review: Ease of use - Easy to use for large areas. No instructions on how to divide if using on smaller sections

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Applied twice over the past month but we still have leatherjackets coming through. How long does it take?**
A: Hi,

The nematodes stay alive for up to 6 weeks, so we say to re-apply if needed every 6 weeks.

The amount of applications will depend on the size of the infestation, so wait around 4-6 weeks from your last application to check.

Kind regards,
Lou

**Q: How long we can store this at room temperature?**
A: Hi,

Once you receive them, please keep them in the fridge otherwise they will not survive.

**Q: Ordered last Thursday and still waiting for delivery ! Today is Monday, would the nematodes die in transit with the mixed temperatures ?**
A: No. Nematodes Direct know their business. You can even store them in the fridge when you get them

**Q: If I'm not in to accept delivery straight away will the product perish as it presumably wont arrive refrigerated?**
A: The shelf life is on the box I had no problems

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It really does seem to work extremely well
*by P***K on 13 November 2025*

Since purchasing my first treatment, I have bought, as Nemsey suggested, a second treatment. I must say, my lawn has never looked better, no unsightly yellow spots, and it is an indicator of Leatherjacket activity
