The straps on this are very sturdy (unlike many I have tried) and are long enough to allow for the television to stand out on the furniture rather than right up against the wall. I installed them to the studs in the wall behind the cabinet (for extra protection) behind the television (in the bottom fourth of the screen area if you could see through the TV) and used simple three inch metal straps, one per quakehold strap, laid across the quakehold strap when just shy of taught from the TV to the wall, so it has a tiny bit of give, and then used one and one half or two inch size ten wood screws, one through a metal strap hole into one side of the stud and one into another metal strap hole through a hole in the quakehold strap and into the stud through the wall. Before attaching the television (which I moved aside) I pulled, hard, on each strap and they were very, very strongly attached to the wall. Behind the television, in case earthquake somehow knocked it backward, I positioned two soft, cardboard boxes strategically, far enough away to hold it up without compromising sound. Unlike earthquake kits that force you to keep the television perfectly vertical and prevent any movement at all, this system allows the television to move in minor earthquakes without causing stress or damage to the metal housing (as you would see with a system that prevents any movement at all by putting stress on the metal housing where it is attached). This is safe, secure, stretchy enough to not damage the television in a minor earthquake and sturdy enough to pull it back and keep it from falling on a child or animal during a quake (but any time you screw into the back, if there is a quake strong enough to knock it off, it will damage the metal housing of your TV which doesn't matter if it saves your family). Good luck making your decision. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Too bad Ready America isn't sold in Canada *by T***R on March 1, 2011* This Ready America "Quake Hold" product was perfect for our flat screen tv at work. The tv sits on a high movable metal stand which is not very wide. As a result the 42" tv hangs over the sides and was somewhat unstable. Because the stand is movable we could not connect the tv to any wall so we needed some way to fix the back of the tv firmly to the stand. The safety straps that come with this product firmly adhere to the back of the tv and to the stand. The straps have a release which allows the tv to be detached from the stand if necessary. Otherwise the straps are firmly in place and the tv cannot not be knocked over should someone knock into either the tv or the stand. In other words this product does exactly what we needed and desrves a 5 star rating. The only complaint I have is the product is not available in Canada and the shipping and duty charges were more than the price of the product.
