Osprey Women's FlapJill Courier Day Pack

O. M. G. I absolutely love this messenger bag! It is the perfect size for everyday use; going to and from work (meetings and errands, as well)! I am very hard to please when it comes to bags and how they sit, how they look, how accessible they are, etc. My occupation really limits what kind of bag I can wear/use on the job. The bag has a lot of different compartments to keep your things organized and easy to find. The first compartment under the flap is a zippered pouch where you can store small things like keys, pens, wallet, phone, etc. After that is a deep zippered pocket, about 6" wide. Then it is the main pouch for notebooks, planners, tablets, small laptops. Within the same main pocket is a few padded pockets one with the zipper and over those padded pockets is a velcro strap, I am assuming to contain the laptop or notebook. Once you fold over the flap of the bag, a handle is exposed at the top of the bag; it is for you to handle the bag when the flap is open (very convenient). There is also a water bottle holder, accessible when the flap is opened and closed. The water bottle holder is not like those cheap looking mesh side pockets; it is sort of hidden on the side. If you had a large water bottle in the pouch, it could throw off the balance of the bag but I have never tested it out. The bag closes with 2 velcro patches as well as the buckle (I really don't use the bucket that much). When the bag is closed, there is a handle on top for an easy grab. Then, on the back of the bag is a strap with the buckle and I am pretty sure it is for securing on a rollable luggage handle. The exterior is obviously black with embroidered teal brand name and logo. The liner on the inside is teal, which is one of my favorite colors! Finally, the messenger bag strap is great as well! It comes with a movable pad, a large teal Osprey logo on the exposed side and a breathable, padded mesh material on the bottom side. It also has 10 clear, rubber lines that make the strap pad grippy. The strap's adjustment is also neat, it is not a classic buckle; I am not sure what it is called but it requires you to undo the fastener and move the strap freely until you decide the right size then push the buckle back in and it is good to go! Like I mentioned before, I LOVE this bag.

Changes I like:1) My favorite new feature, is the much larger space for holding a water bottle. My 22oz Hydroflask Tumblr fits easily (and does not poke out the top), and my 32oz Hydroflask bottle takes two hands, but it does fit. This does of course take up space in the interior next to this exterior pocket, which is quietly hidden away between the strap and the side of the bag. The strap makes a decent lid/containment device.2) The closure on the front flap is much better. Instead of one mediums sized velcro area and two small buckles at the corners, it has one large buckle in the middle, and two large velcro areas. The poky/hook side of the velcro is on the inside of the front flap, while the soft loop side is on the outside of the bag. I'm hoping this will keep the velcro in better shape for a longer period of time.3) The non-slip stuff on the bottom of the shoulder strap cushion is greatly improved. On my last model (2013ish maybe?), the non-slip was the brand name 'Osprey" written out in a semi-cursive/printed script. It didn't take long at all for the dangling letter bits on the Y, P, & E to start peeling off. This new version looks like it will hold up longer as it consists of ten (10) strips of 2" x 1/8" that go across (opposite of lengthwise) the underside of the cushion spaced 1/2" apart. There's a few inches on either end of the cushion that don't have these strips.Changes I'm not so sure of:1) Instead of one lightly padded zippered pocket (tablet-size), and an open well-padded laptop-size sleeve, there are two open-topped sleeves and one zippered pocket (the smallest of the 3; my 10.1" tablet fits perfectly). The divider between the two open sleeves is well padded. The front of the zippered pocket is also nicely padded.The rear sleeve up against the back of the bag has no padding on that back side, just the padded divider in the front of that area. The 2nd open sleeve is about an inch shorter (depth-wise) than the other. It has the padded divider on the 'back', and NO padding in front as the backside of the zippered pocket is just a panel of fabric/nylon/etc. I find this disappointing, as I would rather have all 3 areas at least lightly padded from one another.2) The previous version had two pockets in the front that were covered by the flap (which had a small pocket of its own). In that version, there was a lower pocket that was great for holding my keys, chapstick, and other small items, and the larger front pocket had great pockets & organizers. The small flap pocket was a perfect hiding place for my pepper spray & swiss army knife.On this new version however, they've changed the pockets a lot. The front of the bag still has two pockets, except it's basically one very large pocket (approx 10.5"W x 8.5"H x 1"-2"D) with only about half of the organizers as the previous one. Between the bag itself and that large pocket is a zipper hiding a space that is around 13"W x 10.5"H x 0.5"D.However, what I greatly dislike is that the zipper to this relatively large space is only 8" long.Instead of a pocket on the front of the flap, there is a pocket directly underneath the carry handle on the top of the flap. The zipper to this 9.5"W x 6" H pocket is not quite 7" long. The carry handle being right on top of the zipper makes this pocket extremely awkward to access.The overall size of the bag itself seems to be about the same.

The size is great and design of this bag is great! I can fit my laptop, notebook, lunch, water bottle, and still have room to spare. The front pocket has several organizational features in it for keys, pens, and more. Also, there are pockets tucked all throughout the bag that keeps things separate and easy to find. Spent some time trying to find a courier bag for work that didn't look too feminine but still did not look like I took my husbands bag. I got the black bag with the teal accents and it was a perfect balance.Very happy with this bag!

Ich habe das Vorgängermodell in einer anderen Farbe. Die Größe ist für meine Belange perfekt, und da diese Tasche zu meinem ständigen Begleiter wurde, wollte ich sie für mehr Abwechslung ;) noch in einer weiteren Farbe haben.Leider ist das Material der neuen Tasche anders. Es ist ziemlich steif und wenn ich sie schräg umgehängt habe, finde ich es schwierig, sie zu öffnen und ohne Hingucken mal eben was rauszuholen (wie ich es gern bei der älteren Tasche mache). Diese Tasche muss ich mir "nach vorne drehen", besser noch ganz abnehmen, damit der Riemen nicht beim Aufmachen stört. Das nervt ein bisschen.

I love this bag! It holds my computer and various items that I need to go to work to the office and also all the stuff I need when I go work in the field. Nicely organized and shaped for a woman. I am petite (5'0) and the bag is very confortable to wear and it is easy to modify the length of the strap. Love the colors as well!

Ich liebe diese Tasche. Genau das richtige. Mein Laptop passst genau hinein und ich habe noch genug Platz für alles andere was sonst in meiner Handtasche ist.
