Beginner's Guide to Silk Painting (Search Press Classics)

Excellent book - especially for beginning and intermediate silk painters! I have several books on silk painting, and this book, although simple, is one of the best. After seeing a painted silk piece in a musuem, I wanted to learn to make my own. I watched a lot of YouTube videos, but this book really helped to walk me through the process step-by-step. Exactly what I was looking for, to guide me into a new hobby.This book sets out the basics of silk painting, and gives you enough instruction to get you started without overwhelming you.It is clearly written and easy to understand with plenty of diagrams and additional information to take you further as you progress.It helps you to outline your first project and gives you some hits and shortcuts to save you grief and to build your confidence.Now to go shopping for some supplies. :)Great Starter Guide - Highly Recommended. For a beginner's guide, there is much missing information and the step by step demonstrations are missing some details. I expected more from a beginner's guide.

This book is very good for beginners. Wish I had this book BEFORE I started painting. Covers the basics and has very good instructions and photos. If you are intermediate, this book reinforces what you know but doesn't really add anything- and doesn't purport doing so. Glad I got it, will give to my mom who wants to try but doesn't want lessons from me. Lol!

Looks like a very informative book, and perfect for my next project.

What I like about this book is, that it is a collection of“how to”s addressing specific projects and challenges.Beginners and more advanced students can benefit from it.

Very informative. Tells you what you need to know to start silk painting. Even if you don't want to do the projects listed, read through them. There is valuable information on most every page.

A visually attractive book but I believe the instructions are too scant for a complete beginner to the art form. The notes that accompanied my two-hour taster session (at Centre Parcs, Longleat) are considerably more useful and comprehensive.

Introductory book for absolute beginners.

I am interested in silk painting and wanted to take my techniques further, and this book will let me do that.It was very inexpensive and is amazing value for the advice and instruction it gives.It is well laid out, with colour photographs all the way through, and step by step projects to follow.A recommended read for silk painters.

Well organised and illustrated simple guide to silk painting, using straightforward language and suggesting easy and actually quite attractive projects! [unlike some craft books!] Cheap enough just to buy to find out if the craft is for you.

Interesting how to little book. Full of what you need to know to get started but probably not for advanced
