Hard to assemble but comfortable
I bought this chair and was very impressed with the material as I took it out of the box. However, this was the hardest chair to assemble that I ever had. The problem arose at the end of the process as the screws for the back just don’t want to line up. Eventually, with my wife leaning hard on the back, we managed to do it. I really wanted to like this chair as it looks like a high end executive office chair and the leather is nice and shiny with fancy stitching and in a beautiful shade of brown. Alas, I am returning it because the back of the chair is two inches shorter than I am used to. As a result, when I lean back to read, my head has no support as the back only reaches my shoulders. I am six feel tall but with short legs and a large torso. Also, because of my particular build, the top of the back seemed to push my shoulders forward when sitting upright, which becomes uncomfortable. I still gave the chair 5 stars, it just didn’t fit my body. Beautiful chair though.

Comfortably firm with good support
The chair is very nice and appealing. The cushions are firm, but not too firm. I don't like a cushion that you sink down into and have them only get worse as time goes on. This is not as high back as I thought, but then again, I am at the office and can't be lounging around. The chair has good height settings. The entire seat does lean back & forth, not just the back itself which is not an issue as I am not going to be reclining during work. Adjustable tension on the lean back function is nice and I can adjust it so I have to put some effort into leaning back and just just winding back when I least expect it.Be very careful screwing the back rest to the side rails. Make sure you have the side rails really lose so you have room to work with and DO NOT STRIP THE THREADS while getting the screws started.

comfortable chair if your short
I'm 5ft4in so this chair is just right for me. It is very comfortable. It was pretty easy to put together by myself except for two screws that wouldn't screw in. It took me hours to finally get them to go in. I thought of returning the chair because of them, but glad I kept trying.

Definitely not a $300 chair
Where to begin, the list is long: from the badly aligned screw holes and poor choice of hardware length to the horrible posture once assembled and not-so-great comfort, it leaves a lot to be desired. It looks good though, not spectacular and probably won't look good for long, but for now it does.30 minutes to assemble a simple chair like this (it is nearly identical to the $150 gaming chairs from Staples, I assembled 12 in our office) is 3x what it should take, thanks to the bad design and bad manufacturing job: very few threads engaged, screw heads directly resting on thin plastic interface (washers are too expensive I guess!), nonsensical armrest groove which means the majority of the screw is unsupported, ... This chair is an accident waiting to happen, I give it 3 months before one of the fasteners pops.I would have returned this chair if it wasn't for the hassle to pack it back in, that's how we all get tricked into keeping subpar stuff like this. Never again will I consider Serta as a vendor.

Poorly engineered assembly for an otherwise excellent chair
Overall construction quality high, but assembly-design was very marginal. Two persons (4-Hands) REQUIRED for assembly to have help in aligning final components under compression and screw initiation. Was a 2-day, 8-hour struggle to overcome fine-threaded and too short machine screws without centering shoulders (plus upholstery fabric obstructing holes into the screw T-Nut recepticles), which required perfectly straight alignment with components being held rigidly by partner to get screw engagement estbalished in their T-Nuts. The L-shaped allen wrench (provided) was impossible to keep straight alignment while turning during initiation of thread engagement. Had to use my own T-handled wrench and replacement of several screws with self-threading tapered anchor screws that did not require perfect straight alignment to engage. Caster wheels were mediocre and hard surfaced making rolling on hard surface, or plush carpet noisy and stiff. I chose to replace them with set of 2" dual wheel — Omyoffice Heavy-Duty Chair Wheels Support 2200lbs, Mute Polyurethane-Rubber Chair Casters for Hardwood Floors and Carpet — (See separate Review). After 4- unsuccessful hours attempting to get the final components together (with a helper) I filed for return of chair. But after an overnight rest, I used separately purchased different hardware screws, and took another 4-hours to complete assembly rather than spending that time trying to dissasemble and fit all the pieces back into the orignal packaging. Per Instructions, before returning the chair, I contacted the designated 3rd partry service company for potential assistance or replacement parts. They could not identify the chair in their support system and said they had no available parts. An it was obvious the representative was not at all familiar with the chair assembly process. So that operation was of no help, at all. The chair was marked "Made in China", it was sold under the Serta brand, and the service company was obviously Canadian (True Innovations). Amazon quickly authorized Return & Refund, but As described above, I opted to make it work after so many hours trying to get it satisfactorily assembled. [Note: Other reviewers had similar difficulty described with assembly and alignment issues, and I found that after I got it together the chair had an excessive degree of noise due (I suspect) to the fact that the assembly was not fully tightened, which I observed initially until I finally got everything together and fully maximum-torqued after everything assembled. The swapping of the casters made the effort worth the keeping of the chair! (Note: I am a highly experienced mechanic, DIYer, and engineer with many years of experience. So I cannot highly recommend the chair for home assembly and 3rd-Party Customer Support).

Wow, Love this chair!!!
This chair is awesome. I just switched from ordinary cheap chair to this now that I'll work from home all the time. The cushion is amazing. So comfortable, firm but pillow like. It looks beautiful. The back is very comfortable as well to recline/stretch. The padded arms are great. The lift works well and stays at the height you set it! My only comment is my 11 yr old put this together for me. He got the arms backwards a few times and in setup it scratched easily and got a small rip on the side. It does seem to rip easily and scratch so be careful with that.

nice looking, built is good, if your near 6' or 200lb your gonna regret the buy
nice looking, built is good, if your near 6' or 200lb your gonna regret the buy.no complaints about the chair...if i was 5'5 - 5'9 and less that 200lbs.looks great, rolls TOO easily on my hard wood.Seat cushion addition fixes the cushion issue, but with my shoulders hitting at the big upper pad it causes a completely slouched position for the rest of my back, the only way to sit comfortably is to put a pad above the lumbar below the ..Neck pillow?again, this is an awareness review for us taller folks

Skip this chair
The package arrived opened, the assembly instructions were not detailed enough, the parts didn't fit easily together, and the screws have a tendency to strip. The finished result isn't even comfortable, and I'm worried the bonded leather will deteriorate and peel like my last Serta chair ... and this will be my last.
