The operational range of this scanner is incredible especially with the absence of line-of-sight obstructions.. Scanning rate is a bit slower compared to TaoTronic's bluetooth attached scanner. Similarly, brightly lit environments like outside directional daylight can affect its accuracy. Used indoors, it will do just fine. I do wish that the handle had a hole for a carbinger or a lanyard ring. Also, I wish that the handle texture is more rubbery, less likelihood of slippage. For now, I wrapped rubber bands around the handle and it works just fine.

I think it is amazing how fast barcode scanners have dropped in price over the past few years. If you can't spend much or have undemanding applications, this will work OK. The scanner works and is not difficult to program if you are familiar with barcode scanning in general and understand the process of scanning printed codes to change settings. For many, it may even work out of the box for their application. I would recommend this for home/hobbyist use and light duty commercial applications.Be aware that you will get much, much better performance from something in the $100 range like the Symbol/Motorola LI2208 (for used Symbol/Motorola units, the cost is about $25-$75). The TaoTronics scans slower and seems to have more difficulty with marginal barcodes than the Symbol. Also, while Symbols and other scanners of that type have been operating in the field for years there is less known about long-term reliability for the these less expensive scanner models.

I bought this for my company to use to check clients in and out of events. We were able to plug it into the laptop and started scanning right away. So far, it's doing what it's meant to do very well. However, I do have to mention that it has been less than a month since we bought it. I can't comment on its durability and longevity, but preliminary usage has been positive.

This replaced a Symbol USB reader that mysteriously went missing at work. This does the job but it does seem to have a harder time reading small or unclear codes than the Symbol did. Still a good buy for the money.

Works well so far, shipped fast. Scans accurately & quickly. I'm going to try not to bump or drop this scanner like I did the last one (different brand). Come to find that's the weakness of devices like this.

I just received this scanner about 30 minutes ago and here are my thoughts:Packaging: 4/5 The box is pretty nice. Inside is the manual and the actual scanner, in bubble wrap. No complaints at all here.Manual/Instructions: 3/5 The manual is pretty brief. Mainly it consists of a table of technical parameters, which might be useful. There's a diagram on scanning angles, some installation instructions in English without spelling errors, but obviously not written by a native-speaker. Clear enough though. The balance of the manual consists of barcodes that you scan to change the functionality of your scanner. It's supposed to be plug-and-play, so you don't really need much in the way of instructions.Operation: 0/5 I can't get it to work at all. It won't scan my barcodes, nor any of the ones included in the manual. I've tried every angle and light configuration I can think of. No success at all.Customer Service: ?/5 I just emailed them. We'll see if I hear back. I'll give them 24 hours before I begin return procedures. With so few interface options, I don't know what they could do for me in terms of troubleshooting.

Works excellent, better than I expected. Robust and scans quickly and clearly. Easy to hold and nice looking. Easy to start working with.

Purchased this item 8/26/14. Plugged into my Macbook Air and scanner works perfectly. No setup - no drivers just plug it in and scanning. This will be very helpful for our FBA Amazon business.
