Petmate Jackson Galaxy Vault Cat Toy Marinater, Small

My cat gets excited when she sees this box. There has yet to be a toy she won’t go crazy over after it’s been sitting in here.Simple but smart idea

So here’s my take on the vault: excellent concept, makes sense in theory, convenient storage for all the cat toys. Purchased.When delivered I discovered the disappointment everyone was mentioning. Look at the picture, there’s two halves. Top half, bottom half. Each piece (top & bottom) have two plexiglass windows which slide in and out, a “screened” portion that the toys rest in and prevent the catnip from falling out, and a couple of others. WOW 😳 was something made overly complex. Maybe it was done so owners can throughly clean if their cats sensitive or doesn’t like catnip, but my god! Humans are using this thing! Why make “the lock” two flimsy little rings made of plastic that fall down, unlock the vault, spill the top half out, toys everywhere, catnip everywhere, and now you have to reassemble the thing??What I can see is this: with a little better design this thing has it. Less parts, not so flimsy, and design the latches better and you’ll have a great productFor now, I’m going to try to spot glue a couple things in place I think will make the experience better for me when handling.

Plan on several days for catnip to permeate toys.

Even though the reviews of this thing were not particularly good, I thought it was a clever idea and decided to take a chance. That was a mistake because this thing is a flimsy piece of garbage. It is literally about a dozen pieces of plastic held together by nothing--just sort of resting in place--making it prone to falling completely apart. The side latches "locking" the top and bottom of the vault together are neither firmly attached to the bottom piece nor actually stay in place, requiring the entire unit to be handled with extreme care.While the idea appears sound, I think the poor construction prevents it from being effective. First, it comes with a tiny amount of catnip, which seems to be insufficient to accomplish anything. I added 3x more, and after marinating some soft toys for a day and a half, my little catnip junkie was no more interested than he was before. When I opened the vault to take the toys out, the catnip smell was (to me) very faint. The main problem appears to be that the vault is not air tight--again, just pieces of plastic resting in place--so the catnip scent is escaping rather than being absorbed.In sum, a zip lock bag costs a small fraction of the price and is 10x more effective. But since I already own the thing, I'm considering gluing the panels in place to see if that will reduce the diffusion.

I just got around to using the product but unfortunately it is over 30 days. The clip on the one side is broken so it doesn't lock. At this time it is too late to return/exchange so I will have to deal with the broken product. It appears it will work well with getting the toys to smell like catnip, but appears it will require quite a bit of catnip to put inside. Seems like a good product except for the fact that it came broken.

I love the concept of this box! my cat loves the toys that have catnip but so does my dog and he ends up getting sick. This is a great way to solve the problem of the dog. The only complaint I have is how easily the tabs can break that secure the lid on. I had mine break not long after getting it. I use a rubber band to hold it together but it still works.

GREAT concept. My unit came without latches. How can this be?? I had to tape the sides. Filling with catnip is a mess so I did that over the trashcan. I had such high hopes for this.

Helps keep toys orginized when not being used. Easy to fill.

Use this to add life to my cat’s toys, really works!

The orange latches to hold the top and bottom together fall off easily and, can be lost. After contacting the supplier and Jackson Galaxy...No luck! I can't return it to Amazon because it has been used and is not in the original packaging.

My cat has not really responded any differently to the toys that are supposed to be "marinating" in this "vault". but it's nice. Hopefully, with the right catnip, he will enjoy his toys more.
