Review: Great Product! - This system works really well. I am getting my chisels and planes sharper than ever before, and I have restored a few that I has previously thought were lost causes.
Review: Works very well, after a couple minor adjustments - I’ve always sharpened chisels by hand, but I have some that I haven’t used in a while and needed to sharpen all of them and a couple had some chips along the edge so it would’ve taken me forever. I’ve never used a sharpening guide before, but decided to search for one on desertcart. I saw a few others that were quite a bit more expensive and I didn’t want to spend that much at the moment so I decided to try this one for $15. I ordered it Sunday night and it arrived Monday afternoon. When it arrived, I opened the box. The unit came in one piece, except for the little end bolt on the adjustment screw which was loose in the box, and there was a tiny set screw to attach it, but it didn’t come with the correct size Allen wrench to tighten it. I was able to find one in my garage, but if I didn’t have it, I would’ve been out of luck. Once I found the correct Allen key, I was able to put it together. I recommend that you put a drop of blue Loctite on the set screw before you tighten it or it will probably come loose every time you use it. Also, there are two “E” clips that hold the bearing in place and they were too tight so the bearing didn’t roll. With a small screwdriver I was able to remove one E clip and put it back on leaving a little more space. Now the bearing rolls smoothly. I will say this product is straight out of China. Even the writing on the box is in Chinese. So the quality control is lacking, but as they say, you get what you pay for. But with a couple minor modifications, it seems like a pretty well-made, durable tool, and it works well. It puts a nice square edge on your chisels without having to maintain the angle by eye. If you want something, that’s good to go right out of the box, I would buy one of the more expensive versions of this tool, but if you’re looking to save money and don’t mind making a couple “adjustments”, then this is the way to go.

I’ve always sharpened chisels by hand, but I have some that I haven’t used in a while and needed to sharpen all of them and a couple had some chips along the edge so it would’ve taken me forever. I saw a few others that were quite a bit more expensive and I didn’t want to spend that much at the moment so I decided to try this one for $15. I ordered it Sunday night and it arrived Monday afternoon. When it arrived, I opened the box.
