## Description

Product Description The OBERON 1 is the most compact speaker in the series. Like its larger sister models, it uses the large-dimensioned and extremely light 29 mm fabric dome tweeter, which ensures a very spatial and detailed sound image. The bass-midrange driver has a 130 mm (5 1⁄4'') wood-fibre cone and a magnet system based on SMC technology. This allows the DALI OBERON 1 to deliver a surprisingly powerful bass response in smaller rooms, given its diminutive cabinet size. The extremely flexible compact speaker can be placed on a shelf, on a stand or - thanks to the integrated wall bracket - directly on the wall. LOW-MIDRANGE SPEAKER Like all DALI drivers designed to reproduce mid and low frequencies, the 130 mm (5 1/4'') bass-midrange driver of the OBERON 1 has a wood fibre cone. The mixture of a fine-grained paper pulp reinforced by the addition of wood fibres results in a stiff, lightweight structure with excellent acoustic properties. In combination with particularly low-loss surrounds and centre spiders, the cone reproduces even the finest sound details with extreme clarity and precision. The cone is surrounded by a rubber surround which, due to its soft and very flexible material, allows the cone to vibrate absolutely freely, has very low damping and allows the magnet system to control the cone movement very precisely. SMC The use of SMC in the magnet system significantly reduces mechanical distortion caused by hysteresis and eddy currents. In combination, these improvements to the magnet drive significantly reduce third-order distortion, which is why the OBERON Series speakers provide a longer, more relaxed listening experience with unobtrusive midrange and an amazing level of detail in this class. The drive consists of a large ferrite magnet surrounding a pole piece made from the unique combination of iron and SMC. SMC is a magnetic powder that makes it possible to form strong magnets that do not conduct electricity. Since the ferrite iron forms only the base of the pole piece, the negative effects of the iron are minimised, while the 10 mm thick SMC disc on top of the pole piece is placed exactly in the centre of the main working area of the four-layer voice coil. Tweeter The tweeter, with its ultra-light 29 mm diameter fabric dome, was developed specifically for the OBERON Series. The cone is made of an extremely light fabric that weighs less than half as much as most other dome tweeters on the market, at only 0.060 mg per mm2. Thanks to the large diaphragm, the tweeter achieves a higher sound pressure level with a smaller excursion, allowing the voice coil to move with great precision and control at all times. The tweeter's magnet system is cooled with ferrofluid in the interest of higher power handling, perfect damping and to support absolutely centred voice coil excursion.

Review: Absolutely superb - Wow. Really shocked at the sound quality of these little Dali speakers. Paired them with the Cambridge audio AXA35 amplifier and it’s a match made in heaven. Really strong punchy bass I’m really shocked at how speakers this size can produce bass like this. Well worth the £400 asking price. So good in fact I’m considering buying another pair of dali speakers for the living room. I actually bought these for the living room with them being small and discrete but thought I’ll try them in the man cave and wow there staying there. They have replaced a pair of new mission 700 which cost twice the price so again it just shows it’s not how much something costs to be the best. It’s about pairing hifi equipment correctly some things match up better than others. Highly recommended speakers

**Q: Can these be used by connecting to a bluetooth receiver?**
A: No

**Q: have the oberon 1 speakers got a wider soundstage than the zensor 1 speakers from Dali ?**
A: I do not know but I can say they are quite adept for the size they are

**Q: Forgive a stupid question. what sort of connectors - eg banana plug - will i need to buy to connect these to my (yet to buy) marantz pm 6007**
A: Banana plugs are an industry standard 4 mm plugs for speaker cable  the amplifier can take bare wire or banana plugs so they are not an necessity.

Wow. Really shocked at the sound quality of these little Dali speakers. Paired them with the Cambridge audio AXA35 amplifier and it’s a match made in heaven. Really strong punchy bass I’m really shocked at how speakers this size can produce bass like this. Well worth the £400 asking price. So good in fact I’m considering buying another pair of dali speakers for the living room. I actually bought these for the living room with them being small and discrete but thought I’ll try them in the man cave and wow there staying there. I wasn’t expecting much of a upgrade from the Dali Spektor 2, I was wrong, definitely a step or two up the ladder. I didn’t find any lacking in the bass department. Well pleased with the purchase.
