They're normal solvent based polish. The top coats that come in a black or opaque bottle will need an LED/UV lamp to set. **Q: Does it change the color of the polish?** A: I've been using it for years and I've never had an issue with my polish changing. I only use lacquers, so I'm not sure how it responds to regular polish. **Q: Does this top coat keep the polish from chipping?** A: Yes I have good luck wth it. I have always used a top coat or polish will chip. Do a bottom coat 2 coats of color one coat of top coat. BUT you must let each coat dry a few minutes in between. Later soak in ice water.
