American Classic Gelous Nail Gel Base Coat Nail Polish

Very happy with my purchase of the Gelous Base Coat - I will always keep it on hand and will never use another base coat again. It works as promised and keeps a manicure for at least a week - possibly more, but I usually re-do my nails every Sunday night for the week so I haven't tested to see how many days past 7 it will go. :) I attached pictures from last Sunday, right before I took my nail polish off and re-did them. It still looked almost as good as the day I applied. To get the longest lasting manicure, I usually apply it in the following order:A. One thin coat of Nail Strengthener (I use OPI Nail Envy Original)B. Wait 2 MinutesC. One thin coat of Gelous Nail Gel Base CoatD. Wait 2 MinutesE. One thin coat of Nail PolishF. Wait 4 MinutesG. One more thin coat of Gelous Nail Base CoatH. Wait 2 MinutesI. One more thin coat of Nail Polish (and nail art, if you're into it)J. Wait 5-10 minutesK. One or two coats of good quality top coat - I use Seche Vite or Out The DoorA few tips: First, the key seems to be to apply thin coats... not so thin that they're spotty, but not thick and or "goopy" - or else all of the layers will get too thick and will take FOREVER to dry. Second, if you get to the end and it is the final step before the top coat, and your coats are too thick and look like they'll take ages to dry, fill a shallow bowl with cold water and dip your nail tips in and out for about ten seconds at a time for a couple of minutes... they'll start to harden up much quicker. :) And third, this may seem like an aint-nobody-got-time-for-that kind of thing, but for a week-long, chip-free manicure that I can do while watching a 30 minute episode of something on Netflix, it's totally worth it.Good luck! I am a stay at home mom who does cleaning with my bare hands all the time, and at the same time, I love doing my nail! The problem is, my nail polish does not stay long on my nails due to constant washing and cleaning.Well, I have been searching online on how to keep nail polish from coming off right away and one of the tip I read online is to use this gel nail polish with the regular nail polish. Well I tried it 4 nights ago and guess what!? It really works! My nail polish hasn't come off yet. Usually my polish will chip in just a day or two but with this base coat, wow, it is amazing! I can finally enjoy doing my nails knowing that it will not come off or chip easily anymore.This polish dries really fast too. The brush for me is a little bit thick but the formula is really nice. It does not bubble nor streak. It smooths itself after application. I really love it and honestly, this is the only base coat and top coat you will ever need. Glad I found it. I VERY HIGHLY recommend it!! I am so happy with this purchase. Well worth the money spent.

I really wanted to like this product. It looks nice over regular nail polish, or giving matte nail polish a nice sheen. I have 3 that I love the color but the formula is matte. As someone who used to get their nails done regularly, I thought this could give a better job than a primary school girl who stole her mom’s polish. The issue is it LOOKS NICE BUT IT DOESNT LAST even 3 days! It doesn’t just chip away, it comes off or rather peels off in sheets. There isn’t even need for nail polish remover, pick at it and it sloughs right off. If you’re into that sort of thing then you’d love it. And then I notice my nail as being dry, despite having a base coat!

This is one of my favorite products for doing my nails at home. My routine: I use a clear base coat, and then put one coat of this on top. I alternate colored polish with this gel coat (i.e. gel base coat, color, gel base coat, color) and then top it with a clear shine top coat. Make sure every layer dries completely! I have found this gets me to 1 week with no chips, and 2 weeks to a chipped but doable manicure (as opposed to 1 day or so with chips without this routine)

I’m on day 4 of my manicure and my nails look great! Friday will make a full week and I can’t wait to see how my nails hold up. I applied a coat of intense strengthening polish, because my nails are thin from gels; one coat of gelous, followed by one coat colored polish; another coat gelous; second coat of color; final coat of gelous.I finished by applying some OPI quick dry drops.Nails look great and feel strong 💪

I’ve been using this as a base coat for every manicure for a few months now, and I couldn’t be happier. I use this the same way as I would any other base coat, just one coat before color. (I did initially try to layer it with my color as per the instructions of the gel hack that’s been making the rounds — weirdly, my polish flakes off more quickly and of course takes forever to dry that way, so it wasn’t worth the effort.)Using this as a base coat means a smoother, glossier, cushier manicure as opposed to ORLY Bonder. I also get 5-7 days of chip-free wear to my manicures as opposed to 3-4 with Bonder. Best of all, the strengthening properties of Gelous mean my nails are thicker, less prone to flakes and splits, and grow faster than before. I find this product plays well with both INM Out the Door and Glisten and Glow Top Coat.

I have the worst nails and couldn’t find anything that helped my polish stay on for more than a couple days. I read about Gelous in Pinterest and decided it was worth trying. It’s amazing!! If done properly, my manicure willl now last 5-7 days. And it’s nice and glossy! Love this product!

I've always loved this. One for the base and a top coat to get your nail polish nice and salon shiny and helping keep a colored nail polish on longer. I've used it for both my regular nails when they're long enough and on top of acrylic nails... I will always keep buying this when I'm running out.
