NIOSH approved filters and cartridges help protect against hazards like particulates, nuisance odors, organic vapors and acid gases potentially found in chemical handling, oil and gas refining, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Warning: Respirators help protect against certain airborne contaminants. Before use, the wearer must read and understand the User Instructions provided as a part of the product packaging. It's better than using a facemask with a cartridge because it brings in air to you so you don't have to use your lungs to suck in the air, its like living in a bubble. I use it more with the light weight headwear that they use in medical and spray booth, the helmet is a bit heavy for me, but can come in handy.
