Slow and buggy Apps but works as described
I hooked it up to my 05 350z with Bose and Navigation. Here is what you need to buy to make it work:.PAC ROEM-NIS2 system interface kit.Apple VAG to Lightening (if you have iPhone 5).Apple USB to Lightening cable.CD-IV203 AppRadio(R) Mode VGA Interface Adapter Cable for iPhone 5 5S 5C.Scosche Dash Kit for 2003 - 2005 Nissan 350Z Double Din Kit.CableJive dockXtender for Lightning Premium Dock Extender Cable for iPhone 5/5s/5c.You can also add rear view camera. It has separate Navigation input. But you can use your phone hooked up and use its navigation apps.Review of the system:.Sound is good. Much better than my factory Bose head unit. You can almost control everything in the sound menu to your preference.Picture quality is meh. It is WVGA meaning the resolution is 860x480. It is not HD quality. It can play youtube (separate app purchase), DVDs. I tried streaming Netflix, i got it for a second on the screen but when the Appradio app opens the video goes off. I will update if I found a solution..Software is just too buggy using the AppRadio mode. I just use it for navigation with Waze while listening to Music. If you don't want to use your phone's Navigation don't bother adding all those cables (will cost you ~$100).This unit requires the driver to be in the parking condition to use most of on screen options, typing the address on the nav, controlling the picture adjustment options, etc, for the driver's safety. You need to connect the light green wire to your handbrake wire and follow on screen instructions every time you want to use these options. You are able to bypass this which is illegal and I do not recommend nor take responsibility of recommending..there are lots of videos of the options on this unit on youtube. Do some research yourself. Be a man!Would I buy it again? Yes.Would I buy all those cables for the Appradio? Honestly I don't know!*********************UPDATE September 2014Ok I figured out how to mirror my iPhone on to the head unit screen.1- In the setting, the connection must be set as iPhone via bluetooth. Connect your phone to the head unit with the cable. (all cables must be connected as described above.)2- In the main menu, go to iPod.3- Open whatever app you want on your iPhone. Netflix, Youtube, Navigation, ...4- On the iPod control tab (where you usually forward or reverse the tracks) look for "Apps", press on the text.5- You will see your iPhone screen on the head unit. You can't control the iPhone from Pioneer though.6- You can change the mirrored screen size from the options available on the screen. Look for "Normal". You can make it full screen, etc.

because for whatever reason Subaru uses a super wide stereo
First of all, I've got a 2012 Subaru WRX.To use this, I had to buy a metra adapter, which is really for a Nissan - therefore I can no longer utilize my steering wheel controls. Also, I had to buy a Metra bracket so that there isn't a 1 1/2 inch gap, because for whatever reason Subaru uses a super wide stereo. The only other option would be to buy a JDM dash for around 70 bucks, and that isn't worth it to me.Okay so, the sound quality over the stock stereo make the stock sound like rubbish. The stock speakers can really shine and I can even hear a solid amount of bass that I didn't know could exist. The interface is nice and easy to use. The old stock stereo never picked up my BT automatically on the phone and sometimes wouldn't pick up at all - and this one does every time automatically and starts to play whatever song I left off on. I haven't wired in the BT mic that it comes with yet because I'm not sure how I want to do it since its quite large and I don't feel savvy enough to rip apart my dash at the moment. Also, be warned that the increased wattage on this system compared to stock can drain a battery fast. I was marveling my installation in my garage with the car off far too long (30 minutes?) and then realized my car wouldn't start. My major gripe with this thing is the brightness. When its daylight outside, I can't see the screen at all. If I wear sunglasses (Which I always do) while driving, its IMPOSSIBLE to see. I can't figure out if its possible to make it brighter. It just glares terribly,

Love it!
My dad and I did a DIY install on this one (First timers on a 2011 Mazda2) I got a rearview camera and steering wheel control interface in combo with it. Wiring the Pioneer to the the Metra Mazda harness was pretty simple - a few wire colors didn't match up, but the user manuals (Mazda and Pioneer) guided us to the correct connections. We were lost when it came to wiring the Parking Brake and reverse gear signal, so we left those loose. Needless to say, took it to a pro to finish up the install of the rearview and steering control. Now that it's all set up, I love it. Stock stereo sounds WAY better than it did with stock radio, to use Pandora with iPhone (4s in my case), you just need to plug in the included USB extension cable to a iPhone charging cable. Bluetooth set up was quick and easy.TLDR: Easyish install for first timers, great sound, worth it.

HD Radio is awesome
I chose this model specifically for the HD Radio built in. It's great to be able to listen to AM news & sports stations on a digital FM broadcast. Also digital FM stations sound much better. The difference between my stock radio and this unit is significant. The sound is much richer and cleaner even using the same stock speakers. I was amazed when I first powered it up by the quality of the sound.I also bought the hardware to use with my iPhone 5. Here I was a bit disappointed. Maybe I should have dug deeper into what the Radio Apps really are. I kind of thought I would be able to control my iPhone apps through the head unit. This is not the case.I setup the VGA & USB cables to the Apple VGA adapter for the iPhone 5 and tried it out. Unfortunately there is not sufficient power from the head unit to even maintain a charge on the iPhone. After reading the specs in more detail I found there is only 1 amp of power from the head unit to the iPhone so it won't charge it. In fact my iPhone 5 discharged faster connected to this unit. With all other features of this unit I am very happy.
