Belkin Miracast Video Adapter

Very good video steaming device. I have been able to test it with the following devices: Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 10.1 2014e, Galaxy TabPro 8.4, and Galaxy S4 ad with all it worked flawlessly. I like the fact that the it does not need a wifi router or access point to connect to device. The handheld device you are using will connect directly to the adapter. Another feature that I really like is the ability to ScreenMirror, since I am constantly using my tablets or phone to make and display presentations, this adapter makes it easy to take anywhere and connect to any device that has an HDMI input and display my presentations or videos with out needing to be tethered to a wire and having to been near the TV or projector. Although there is a certain lag (split second maybe) between the time you make a keystroke and the time it is displayed on-screen, but this is not a big deal for me. Although I imagine it would be a problem for those people who like to use their tablets or phones to play games on the big screen. That split second is more noticeable when you play a heavy graphics game such as any Gameloft game (yes, I tried it). But over all this is a great adapter for anyone looking to stream videos, surf the web or screen mirror. Would definitely recommend it to my short tempered grandmother who throws things against the wall when they don't respond (or to any of my other friends)

This is an EXCELLENT device - simple to use - no annoying remote to be lost: Simply plug it into a spare HDMI slot on ANY monitor and turn it into a full-featured SMART TV! Use your phone as the remote AND the app player - download YOUR favorite channels (NetFlix; YouTube; Tubbi etc.) and take it wherever you go. No more having to sit in a dreadful hotel room with their god awful cable selection (WHY do they NEVER have the screen at the correct aspect ratio?)This powerful little device will liberate you from the shackles of mediocre ad filled network television in the US

This is a quick review of the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter.The two cell phones that I used to test the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter were a BlackBerry Q10 and Z30. Both devices worked but each had slight hiccups. Minus one star for the hiccups.About the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter: my tests consisted of using the video adapter right out of the box. I did not update the firmware in the video adapter. As other reviewers have noted, to get the video adapter to work you need to provide external power. There really wasn't much else to do. Just plug the Miracast adapter into the TV's HDMI port, plug in the external power adapter, and wait for the Miracast adapter to fully boot and start broadcasting. When it's ready it'll tell you on the TV's screen.Using the BlackBerry Q10 running 10.2.1: This was a fun experiment. After waiting for the Miracast adapter to boot and display the ready screen on the Q10 I went into Settings > Network and Connections > Wi-Fi > Miracast and clicked on Share Screen. Done. Everything on the Q10's 720x720 screen was displayed on the TV, just like on the Q10. I ran a few videos and occasionally the screen image on the TV would break up into horrible pixels but everything sorted itself out. The pixelation was infrequent and didn't last very long. This may or may not be a deal breaker for you, but I can work with it. As for text and music there were no issues at all. The connection was stable for over an hour and everything worked.Using the BlackBerry Z30 running 10.2.1: Here is where the use case for the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter makes more sense. The Z30 has a 5" screen that has a 1280x720 pixel matrix. In landscape mode it's about right for videos, games, and presentations. Getting the Z30 to work with the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter was the same drill of waiting for the video adapter to finish booting, then on the Z30 go into Settings > Network and Connections > Wi-Fi > Miracast and click on Share Screen. The Z30 also experienced occasional pixelation but not enough to worry about it. The only weirdness was with one game. The game played but no sound came out of the Z30 or TV. The solution was to create a 40 second audio file that really contained silence and relying upon BB10's multitasking play that in a continuous loop while I played the game. Then the game's audio went to the TV. Woot!So let's examine use cases. What does the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter do better than an HDMI cable? Well, in short, nothing. It's an HDMI adapter for your cell phone. I can see this device being used in a work environment where someone has a presentation on their phablet or tablet. The only risk here is the presentation may experience pixelation at the worse possible time. So be prepared for that....I can also see using the Belkin Miracast device to have a game's screen presented onto a second screen. I had no idea some games had that much detail crammed into them. It was only when the game's video was ported to the TV that I could see how rich the devs had made the game's environment. Pixelation can occur at a bad time so if you absolutely need to give your attention to the game you're better off watching the screen of the handheld device.Overall I think the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter is a very intriguing device. It takes the place of an HDMI cable and really wants to be in a corporate environment. I can see a person giving a presentation and using the freedom of being able to walk around the stage while the presentation continues uninterrupted. And I can see at the most important moment the presentation pixelating and/or a phone call coming in and breaking up the audience's concentration. But that's OK as most audiences only retain 60% of whatever it is you're trying to get across and really almost any image will do.

Very clear picture and it works! Exciting. Using on laptop and on Windows 8.1 you just get into the devices and directions clear and it does what it's supposed to do! So, very pleased.Only complaint is not with Belkin but my TV is 7 years old, High Def with still excellent picture, and HDMI but the HDMI are not self-powered so have to take the enclosed usb to power and the HDMI from Belkin has the USB cable go underneath the HDMI cable which means, based on our TV (Sony) it has to go into the HDMI that leaves room the cable underneath. I can't use the HDMI outlet that is lower cause of a plastic border. So, I have to disconnect Sony BlueRay Smart TV player and connect Belkin when I want to use it.
