Any suggestions?** A: The S8 does have a minimum volume level before it will "wake up" from standby. If you turn the volume up on the speakers or from the source you're using until you hear the sub kick in, you can then turn the volume back down to where you want it to be and the sub will stay awake. **Q: would you rather go with cheaper yamaha or polk audio subwoofer that are $100 each? $350 for audioengine a little overwhelming :)** A: I don't have a Yamaha or Polk subwoofer so I can't compare. However, I am more than satisfied with the audioengine sub as it provides a very clean and tight bass response that I can feel. **Q: going to be sitting this on the floor next to my desk ,there is a rug in this room would the rug cause a problem since the speaker is underneath** A: Actually, the rug makes a good dampener. Mine sits on a tile floor and has a tendency to move around due to the vibration of the downward firing sub. **Q: Has anyone used the S8 with Audioengine P4 passive speakers? If so, I'm trying to figure out how you interconnect the amp, P4s and S8?** A: If you want to run the S8 with passive speakers you will have to connect it to your pre amp or amplifier. So your amplifier would need to have an rca out that goes to the S8. What type of amplifier are you using to power the P4s? ## Frequently Bought Together - Audioengine S8 Powered Subwoofer Speaker - 250W 8-inch Home Woofer with Built-in Amplifier and Dual Audio Inputs for Home Audio - Audioengine A2+ Desktop 24 Bit Wireless Bluetooth Desktop Speakers - 60W Computer Speakers for Music and Gaming - Audioengine DS1 Small Angled Speaker Stand - Designed for A1, A2+, A2 HD or Similarly Sized --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sc/products/1159354-audioengine-s8-powered-subwoofer-250w-wireless-ready-8-inch-bass](https://www.desertcart.sc/products/1159354-audioengine-s8-powered-subwoofer-250w-wireless-ready-8-inch-bass) --- *Product available on Desertcart Seychelles* *Store origin: SC* *Last updated: 2026-10-10*
