Works great, but not very long.
I ordered 4 of these units from Amazon since late 2013. All of them stopped working within 9 to 18 months. When they were working, they did a great job. Just remember to clean regularly so they don't make 'hissing' noise and don't put them too close to a wall because dirt and contaminents will create a dark spot.I miss not having these things in my house, but I'm not rushing to buy more... I emailed the customer service email of the mfr. asking about 1) repair of units and 2) Warranty. You'll note that there is no warranty information about this product listed on either the Amazon site or the Mfrs. website. I haven't heard anything back from the Wein customer care people - it's been over a week - so I have to assume the obvious: There is no warranty and there is no repair. What that leaves me with is Amazon's A-Z warranty which covers it for 30 days. This is a pretty expensive item for 30 days of air cleaning (worst case). Will I buy another one? Maybe...they do work well when they work. But I expect that these units should last longer than the 4 I've received to date. I also expect a Mfr. to respond to my questions about their product - even a generally negative response is better than no response at all.

Great product when it does not break down...
Did a lot of research before deciding to purchase this product and I'll be the first to say I'm no electrician, but these negative ion machines look like pretty simple devices from having own several different kinds. They all have some internal circuit board that connects to a focused emitter, whether it is this funny looking metal pipe cleaner, a wire pin, or a strip of thin sheet metal. I have bought three of the Wein emitters in the past two years and due to the fragile build quality, they do break down quite easily. Two out of my three machines broke down for various different reasons without making it over a year. The first one had a failure with the cheap glue internally and the second one had a failure that I could not figure out. The ion sensor also stopped working as well on the second one. For both machines, a weak spot I do recall is the power button as it malfunctioned and wore down (due to constant exposure to electricity?? not sure why...), since I always kept it on and maybe depressed the power button less than 5 times in both its lifetime. Also, the price of these machines fluctuates and is now more expensive than when I last bought in June 2018. Each of my machines were purchased at $79.95, $76.95, and $74.95 and now they're charging $92.89. The black wall effect is real as the one that is still alive made a sticky black film of a mess on the corner wall of my office. I also noticed that my himalayan pink salt lamp seemed to burn out quickly when place within a couple of feet next to it so it is best to leave plenty of distance from the emitter.I have since purchased the Mystic Marvels ion emitter and like the smaller package and simpler design (no buttons of any sort, it is just plug and play). Although the ion output is much less, for a one bedroom apartment, even a 1,000,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter at 3 feet away is enough and will build up in no time. Just like the Wein, you can feel the vortex from the Mystic Marvels emitter and they even send you an external ion detector to check if it is working properly.Overall, I really like the Wein for its high ion output and simple design, but unless they use higher quality manufacturing that will make the machines last longer, I would not purchase for the price again. Never really got a chance to try their warranty as I was too lazy to register warranty card with them. My mistake I suppose...

Helped me with My Allergies and Cleans the Air.. But had some issues..
I own several of the Wein VI-2500 High Density Ionic Air Purifiers. I use one in each of my rooms in my home. Not only does it clean the air in my home better than most air cleaners, it injects thousands of negative ions in the air. This simulates being next to a waterfall, so I find im alot more calm in my home than when Im out. I have a sense of "peace" and calm. This is excellent for when Im sleeping as well. Me and my girlfriend have both noticed we get better sleep when we have the Wein VI-2500 in the room running. This also helps with my allergies. If I have it running, I have less allergy symptoms. I know for sure, because my roomate likes to turn these off when I go on vacation, and I sometimes have problems breathing if they are not running and cleaning the air.As much as I like the Wein VI-2500 there are also some problems with it:1. You can get static electricity "shocks" if you touch metal objects or touch the emitter itself. Its more uncomfortable than anything else. This is why I think my roommate turns them off.2. The collect dust on the unit itself and the surrounding walls, so you need to wipe it down. This is a good thing, this dust and dander would have been in the air you are breathing!3. I have had some issues with 1 out of every 4 units being defective for some reason and not working out of the box. This is why I like purchasing from Amazon since they take care of issues with the item is defective.Overall I highly recommend these. Despite the shortcomings, the benefits have been well worth it, and to breathe better, sleep better and feel better. Its rare a device under $100 can do all the above!04/19 UPDATE. Just a few years later, all the WEIN units I purchased are NO Longer working. Thought They would have lasted longer.
