Waste of Money if You Need/Want the Pump
I've owned this dehumidifier about a year. When I first got it, it worked great. How divine, wonderful, delightful not to have to remember (which I never do) to go down to the basement to empty the full tank, (which on my previous, ancient dehumidifier was constantly overflowing).A few months ago, the pump stopped working. I've researched, but I just can't figure out what's wrong with it. The pump isn't clogged. Gunk hasn't built up anywhere. I don't see that wires have shorted out. The display panel says the pump is on and working. When I go to empty the tank, I can see that water is in the line, and when the machine comes back on, the water drains out of the line. (In fact, the pump seems to work for a little while.)The manual, as is true for most things any more, is all but worthless.I figured that contacting the company would be a waste of time since, as other reviewers have indicated, I would likely be requested to send the machine to the company at my own expense. So I'm back to trying to remember to go downstairs to empty the tank. But at least the machine still works, and for that I (grudgingly) give it one star (and also because Amazon won't let you give zero stars).(Yeah, the machine is a little noisy, but it's in my basement, which I only use for laundry and to store the stuff I should probably just be getting rid of, so it's not a problem.)

Make certain to purchase a Protection Plan and plan to use it - DO NOT recommend
DeLonghi dehumidifiers work very well until they stop working and they will most definitely stop working based on our experiences with three consecutive units that we used in our 2000 square foot unfinished basement. The first DeLonghi DD50PE 50-pint unit that we purchased in September 2012 failed in July 2015, the 45-pint DD45PE replacement lasted until November 2016 and our third and final DD50PE replacement lasted until July 2018. We purchased Asurion Protection Plans, so replacing the units was predominately an inconvenience. The above noted, we replaced the DD50PE with a Frigidaire 50-Pint Dehumidifier FFAD5033R1 and the lesser features, as well as much poorer performance during our 2-3 humid months is overtly obvious. I am planning to replace the Frigidaire with a yet to be determined model.Accordingly, I cannot recommend the DeLonghi brand unless you are fine with the cost of the extended warranty and the time needed to continuously replace failing units. Related and as a side note, I cannot recommend the FFAD5033R1 secondary to comparatively poor performance.

DeLonghi does stand behind their products, with a little coaxing.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Though it worked fine for about a year, right around when the warranty runs out, it started failing. Dealing with DeLonghi warranty claim department is an absolute nightmare. They will make you jump through never ending hoops just to file a claim. Never ending questions, video proof, photographic proof, proof of purchase, and more questions, followed with more questions and more questions. In the end, they just want you to go away. I live in NC, they want me to ship it to Philadelphia for inspection and repair. I get to pay for the shipping. They can't give me an idea of how long it'll take. If they can't give me a ballpark idea, I'll have to assume it'll be the entire summer. I can't go the entire summer without a dehumidifier. As you can see in the video, it is leaking from the bottom. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a dehumidifier.A couple days ago, I got a phone call from DeLonghi. It seems they have looked into my problem and are trying to make things right. I'll update after I see what happens. For now, I'm bumping my review from 2 to 3 starsThe replacement unit works fine. I’m restoring a star for eventually making things right. I will not give 5 stars due to the hoops their warranty people had me jump through.

Works like a dream
Works like a dream. Brought the humidity in our damp basement from the high 70s to the low 40s. Built in pump has been moving the water outside to a bucket. I use the water for my rose garden. With the water crisis my area is in this it a huge plus! I will be sure to update with any issues I find. One tiny nit pick. I did not see a right side up arrow on the side of the shipping container. Left it standing upright for 48 hours (please use a min of 24 hours if you do this as well) to protect the compressor from any oil that may have got into the coils during shipping. One note, it will produce some heat in the process. As I am using this in a non living area this is not an issue, but may be for some during the summer. A good AC will have some dehumidifier usage so if that is a concern to you I would suggest going that route.

Pump stopped working within a few months
DeLonghi 50-pint Dehumidifier with Patented Pump The dehumidifier worked well for about four months. All of a sudden the pump, which is why I bought this model, no longer works. I've cleared the hose, unattached and reattached as suggested in the manual, but the pump just won't work. I called support who told me to unplug the unit for at least and hour and try again. Still didn't work. I called support again who told me that I could ship the 43.3 pound unit to DeLonghi and they could diagnosis the problem. The water tank is smaller than my last unit because I had planned on using the pump feature. Back to hauling tanks of water upstairs to dump out. This is not hassle-free as advertised. Very disappointed in both the product and customer service. DON'S WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Worked great for two summers - Stopped working after 2 years
I am not here to bash Delonghi or this product but a fact is a fact.I was happy while this worked for two summers, nonstop 24/7 for the summer months (4 months at a time per summer. This product died after using it for two summers. I purchased TWO OF THESE in July 2017and they both died at the exact same time. While they were working they worked great.I loved the digital LCD display and that fact that it can be set to 30% which is lowerthan other dehumidifiers.Waste of my $500.00 plus dollars.......It can't be a coincidence that both died at the same time. There has to be a design flaw.Don't buy this product.

Fantastic design
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I have read all the previous poor reviews on this product and I have to politely beg to differ. Maybe some units are defective or maybe we just have different expectations. I've taken a short video so you can see and hear this dehumidifier for yourself. I have also taken a few photos to help you to get an idea of this units size and capabilities.I lived in a basement apartment for several years and I had one of those ugly old brown dehumidifiers. It had no bells or whistles but it did the job just fine; it was heavy and as loud as my dryer. Since moving up and out of the basement I really don't have a great need for a dehumidifier. The only time I use this unit is while cooking or after shower time because my Venmar isn't working right. From my experience so far of using it for a week once or twice a day I'm really happy with it. It lowers the humidity in my 1,400 sq ft apartment in less than an hour and keeps my windows from fogging up. I honestly can't wait to use it in the summer when the humidity rises. In the summer I use a Frigidaire Stand alone AC unit that also has a dehumidifying function. That unit cost about what this unit does but I can't use the Frigidaire in the Winter at all because it has no pump and no bucket, it just passively drains out a hose that only in the summer time can I have lead outside. So, I'm very happy to have a dehumidifier with a pump and a bucket not only for the winter but for summertime too.I didn't find this unit loud at all but that's such a relative term; what's loud to you may not be loud to me. So, please take a look at my video to see and hear this unit on low and high fan settings. The only time this unit is loud to me is when using the pump feature. It sounds much like the pump on an old dishwasher. It only engages once in a while and is only on for a few seconds, but it is loud. This unit also shows the room humidity and temperature. You can see these clearly in my photos and my video. I find this uniti really easy to operate but be sure to read the manual before use because there are a few nuances to it.I also don't find this unit that heavy at 43lbs and it's on very steady coasting wheels and has handles on each side but remember I'm used to my big Frigidaire unit. There are two hoses included; one is 3 feet for passive draining out the back and one is 16 feet and for the pump from the front. So, in total there are 3 ways to collect the water from this dehumidifier and that's what makes it so special.Overall, I don't see any reason for less than 5 stars on the unit I received but because of all the poor reviews I will make sure to update this review if I come across any problems with my unit so you can be well informed when making a purchase.

Quiet and Efficient
Had basement flooding issues. Bought this item to remove excess water from the flooring. Works amazing; it pumps the gathered water to our sink to drain right away. It’s quiet and efficient and has dried our floors beautifully.

Great value, super quiet
Love it...haven’t used the pump yet but it’s been running non stop for the past 3 weeks and I empty it once a day. It makes less noise than my desk fan.

Pour l'instant je l'aime beaucoup, la déshumidification est excellente au degré de pourcentage d'humidité que je désire.
