KastKing Lancelot Spinning Reel
I received my purchase on Sunday after work so I spooled a 8 pound line on it and went fishing with my friend. The KastKing Lancelot reel is very smooth, and had no issues reeling anything in. I have always had Shimano products in the past but it became very expensive for me. Their products on the lower line of things just started to fade and turn colors on me.I do mostly fresh water fishing in Philadelphia and I needed something that can handle the demands of style of fishing. Sometimes these fish will pull so I needed a strong reel that can handle the drag. After watching countless videos on youtube -I settle for this one. This is my first KastKing reel, and I also own a couple of their rods. I’m very happy with their products and how affordable anyone to get into this hobby without breaking the bank.

You get what you pay for
Received today, put line on and went fishing. Very smooth, and had no issues reeling anything in. I got the 2000 series to use in mostly creeks. Caught a few small mouth and one trout. So far couldn’t be happier. If something changes I will update. This is my 4th KastKing reel, and I’m very happy with them allUpdate: I will reduce my rating to 4 stars. It is still a good reel, but fished for trout 4 straight days, all day, and now since the newness has worn off, or grease has started breaking down it has a little grinding sound, still reels good and all, but kinda sounds like a plastic on plastic soundNew update: very disappointing, reel is all but useless, froze up on last trip out to the creek. I have other KastKing reels and they are above expectations, this one will have to go in the trash now.

$100 Reel for under $30
I got this reel in yesterday it showed up really fast. I immediately put it on my zebco 6'6" medium rod. I took it fishing today and it casts like a dream. Hands down one of the best spinning deals I have bought. Well worth the money

Good bang for the buck!
A decent reel for the $. Seems to be well built with quality components. Some components seem identical to the Centron reels. Similar price point and quality. I'd like to see a 500 size!!!!!!!!!

Can't find any complaints at this price point
Full disclosure: I was offered some free braided line from KastKing for leaving a review for this product. That said, I like leaving product reviews, but have difficulty finding the time, and this incentive just helped me prioritize to leave a review. While I haven't put this reel in use, it seems incredibly well built and smooth for the price. I recently got into fishing as an adult, having only fished when I was a child, and mostly getting back into it now that I have small children that have been eager to go fishing. I bought this reel to give to my 9 year old son once he'd ready to step up, but I might end up using it myself as well if I want to go light and go for small fish. I purchased a smaller, cheaper Shimano 1000 reel for my son for only $13 here on Amazon. The Shimano has a trigger to release the line when casting, and is the same type I used when I was a kid, so I thought it would be easier for him to transition to from his spincast. I bought this KastKing reel as a size up and upgrade to the full spinning without trigger release when he's ready.I really didn't need this reel at this time, but received a discount from KastKing that made making the cost come to only $17 and then couldn't resist. Figured if anything I could use it as an extra reel until my son's ready. I just got a Daiwa BG 3000, and while the KastKing can't compare to that reel, it isn't all that bad and I like that I now have a 1000, 2000, and 3000 sized reel to work with for different sized fish, and also to pass on to my sons. Once my oldest son moves up to this 2000 reel, my youngest will probably be ready to move up from his spincast to the 1000 size I have, and then will keep going if they stay into fishing.Unlike the Shimano, which is all plastic and pretty dinky, this KastKing is made with a mix of metal and more heavy duty plastic that seems like it should hold up to some abuse and last a lot longer. I got my son such a cheap reel initially since I wasn't sure if he'd like to continue fishing, and also wouldn't mind if he didn't take care of it and it breaks. I didn't realize I could get a better reel for only $4 more, otherwise I would've probably gone straight with this one, though I do think my son likes to have the release trigger on the Shimano, at least for now.I also think my son will really like this reel because of the "Lancelot" logo with the "t" made to look like a sword, and its yellow accents. I think he'll think it looks cool and will feel cool using it compared to his boring all black plastic reel he's currently using. While I got this reel for only $17, I think it's still worth it for the current price of $22. I really don't have anything to compare it to other than the cheap Shimano, but compared to that it appears to be a much better build. Time will tell how it holds up in use, but at this price point, who cares. It's worth the fun it will provide even if it doesn't last forever.

Great quality at a great price!
I purchased the 2000 Lancelot Spinning Reel by KastKing. The spin of the reel is strong and smooth. The components that make up the reel are durable and great quality. I am going to use this reel to catch some pan fish from off the pier.

Eh...
Out of the box it’s impressive, sleek and reels smooth. Put 6lb flourocarbon on it and noticed the reel kind of bogs down when reeling something like a spinnerbait in. You know how your line tangles on the tip of your rod but you can still reel. Kinda feels like that, kept checking my rod to see if I had line twisted up somewhere because it was so smooth without any sort of weight on the line and bogged down noticeably when reeling in a lure. Im looking for a less expensive reel for my gf and kids and have read good things about kastking’s reels and wanted to give it a try. Caught several bass about a pound and it handled the fish very well. Caught 2 bass over 3lbs and it handled the fish very well but my line was so twisted after each one that i had to cut off about 15ft of line after each bigger bass. No way could I untangle it. Been using P-line brand line for years and this was the first time I’ve ever seen that happen. Pulled off the P-line and put berkley’s vanish fluorocarbon 8lb on and same kind of twisting on fish bigger than a couple pounds. It’s the reel, my shimanos and daiwas dont do that. It’s a manageable problem but I was hoping for better. Its fine for my kids or the gf but I’ll stick with my shimano’s.
