Genius design. Designated purpose. Worthy investment.
Absolutely one of the coolest things I have bought for my cat! I live with Willow, the unchallenged (and unchallenge-able) Princess of the Universe. She has very discriminating taste as far as toys and food are concerned. If she doesn’t like it, she won’t have anything to do with it. Period. So I wasn’t entirely sure that I should spend $25 on a food dish/toy that could very well be utterly rejected in feline fashion. But I have never been happier to have been so utterly wrong! This food dish works perfectly for exactly what it was designed to do: prevent Willow from scarfing her food down as fast as she can, give her mental stimulation from having to puzzle out how to get to her food, and satisfy her natural predatory “hunt for food” instinct. Willow figured out instantly how to get to the food, and it took her much longer than normal to eat her meal. (She’s still eating as I write this.) Since it now takes her longer to find and eat her own food, she no longer has the opportunity to try to sneak into my dog’s dish and steal some of his food. Plus, when Willow reaches into the middle to paw out some food, I noticed that the outer rim automatically catches it, so there’s no mess or flying food.Edited to add: When I opened the box, I was surprised at how large the dish was in diameter. But as I watched my cat go in for her food, I realized that the large size is necessary: there needs to be enough room to spread out the food and enough space in between the fishtails for my cat to reach in with her mouth or her paw. So the size is actually a good thing. (Besides, the whole house belongs to her anyway, so who am I to begrudge more real estate for her food dish, right?)The only down side -- a very small one -- is that it takes some pushing and twisting to get the fishtails into the holes; however, it is entirely worth it for safety reasons because, with the fishtails firmly placed, they can’t be dislodged. (By the way, I think this food dish would also work really well for smaller dogs who need to slow down when they eat.)Genius design. Designated purpose. Worthy investment. Willow says so. ;DDisclaimer: I have nothing to do with manufacturing this product or with Jackson Galaxy (other than watching his show). I bought this item out of my own pocket for the simple reason that I love my cat and want her to be happy and healthy.

Great food puzzle toy
This product is exactly as described. I love that it gives my cats something to think about and the chance to use some skill to capture their food instead of mindlessly eating from a bowl. The fish tails are soft silicone, so it is possible for cats to chew off pieces. However, I spoke with my veterinarian before purchasing this product and she told me that if the cats swallowed some pieces, they would most likely pass right through without causing any problems whatsoever. My cats don't have any interest in chewing on the tails. If you have a cat that's a big chewer, you should consider the risks for yourself. No one can guarantee that your cat won't find a way to get into trouble with this product, but for my cats the benefits (mental stimulation, eating more slowly) far outweigh the risks. The cat tails were a bit tricky to get into the holes, but it is a lot easier if you use a small, blunt, stick-like object to poke them into the holes. I used a spare chopstick and it worked great! The handle of a spoon would work well, too.

Well Made And Fun For My Cat ...
This is a wonderful product, and my cat is totally in love with getting her treats this way. She uses her little paw, and reaches in among the fish tails. It is very cute to watch her, and is a daily ritual, for her and me.

Not all Toys are for All cats
The cat i purchased this for seems bored much of the time.i am constantly showing Her attention. And brushing Her.trying to play with her is not something She has much interest in.i had hoped that this Toy/Treat feeder would arouse her;but She is relatively indifferent to it. i seldom use it after a couple months of owning it.It takes up a lot of floor space.i think it is a clever idea, just not very effective for my Cat.~John, Menlo Park, CA

This feeder lives up to its hype and my two kids can eat at the same time!
I'm not a fan of most of Jackson Galaxy products, I find them too expensive and not durable. This feeder (and the smaller oval shaped one) have held my cats interest. My Beastie Boy tends to chow down too much kibbles at one time and occasionally vomits afterward, but the feeder eliminates that problem and helps me to control how much he eats thus preventing obesity. To clean it properly, you'll need a brush that can get in between the fish tails and I soak it beforehand. The kibbles and kat saliva tend to make the feeder kinda slimy during washing so I scrub it vigorously (including the tails) and rinse thoroughly.

I had read about enrichment in your cats lives and we just move from a house to apartment and it seemed like a good time to try
Took a chance. I had read about enrichment in your cats lives and we just move from a house to apartment and it seemed like a good time to try alternative ways to entertain the cat now that space is more limited aka less space to run around crazy at 3 am. The cat leared within 2 trys to use his paw to get treats. He likes it because well Treats and we like it because it takes time for him to puzzle out how to get them and stops him frim scarfing them down all at once.

It's well made & looks fine but didn't quite pass the "puzzle" test for us
I'm a big fan of JG but this toy was not much of a challenge for the intended cat. She figured out that she didn't need to paw her treats out of the maze--she could just force her Siamese-type nose between the soft fish & get the treats pronto. Took her about 5 minutes, 10 tops, to work that out! It slowed her scarfing up the treats a bit, but I was hoping for more of a challenge to get her reward. It's well made & looks fine but didn't quite pass the "puzzle" test for us.

He's a great cat but totally obsessed with food
My cat yelled the first time I gave him his kibble this way. But he soon got over it and has become accustomed to fishing for his food. He is a cat that gulps and is quickly learning how to pick up the pace with the Go Fish but at least there's not as much vomiting of his kibble as there was before. He's a great cat but totally obsessed with food. He gets a small amount of kibble once a day and this seems to make it last longer.
