Round 2
*EDIT* I've purchased a second one, and figured out a very practical refilling technique.1. Unplug the base and grab the whole unit.2. Refill the reservoir and leave it upside down.3. Attach the [clean] base to the inverted reservoir.4. Carry unit back, flip over quickly, set down gently.5. It will be ready to start when plugged back in.I'd give this 5 stars if it were about $80, or if it lasted a full year. Maybe this one will. Figuring out the right way to refill it certainly helps.-----------------------I had this. It looked good, didn't smell, and was only a slight pain to refill and clean (using distilled water). Far less trouble than some others, if you were careful handling it. The design makes it a bit slippery, and the full cartridge can slam down when you set it on the base, causing spillage. Thus, I kept it on a black rubber bar mat. It held over half a gallon of water, and put out a good bit of mist (which I pushed with a little black USB fan). However, it died rather suddenly. I ran it for several months, then stopped for a few weeks, and when I tried to use it again, nothing. Did I get my money's worth? If it had run for a full year, I would say sure. All things considered, I enjoyed our time together, but have not repurchased and turned to my less aesthetic backup. It's possible I could have pursued some warranty, etc. I just let it go.If you stop using it, store the pieces completely dry and separated, in case moisture permeates and corrodes the mechanisms? Maybe that's what happened to mine...¯\_>('^.^)<_/¯

I love it - and I did NOT get a free one for review
My apartment is very dry in winter and it was affecting my sleep. After reading reviews of many humidifiers, I decided on this one and am glad I did. It is smaller than it appears online, so it is very unobtrusive and, dare I say, chic! (For a humidifier, at least). It's super-quiet and emits a fine, visible mist. I fill it up each night before bed, and, because my bedroom is so dry, run it on the highest speed all night. There's still water in the tank in the morning, even after running on high for eight hours.I was hesitant to purchase the Breath initially because I was looking for a filter-less humidifier that used tap water. I'm glad I ultimately decided on this one, though. For less than five bucks a week in water, I get a perfectly conditioned bedroom by a well-designed and lovely product.Speaking of design, others have complained that the Breath is hard to fill. I do not find it any "harder" to fill than any other humidifier I have had (and I've had many). Press a button, lift the unit, turn it upside down, unscrew a cap and fill with water. Done. Replace the cap, turn back rightside up and gently place onto the base. It's always possible you'll get a drop or dribble of water on your counter/surface, but the risk is no greater than with another type of humidifier, in my opinion. Certainly not problematic enough to not recommend the Breath.

Don’t Buy! Causes puddle around base, will wreck wood floors
Looks great, but leaves huge puddle on the floor every time you turn it on. The auto shutoff function does not work, and the noise is very audiable not silent as advertised. I’m shocked this item is still for sale on amazon. It’s a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.

I am very noise sensitive and this is great!
Lost one star for "no water level indicator" and "no handle on top to help move it around" (you have to hold both the bottom and top at the same time when moving it around if you do) , also would have liked other color choices (like tan, brown or blue).HOWEVER it is a GREAT QUIET unit... and I don't mean quiet like almost no noise except for a terrible high pitched whine (like the Vicks has) --- no, I mean nearly SILENT. The only noise is an almost imperceptable motor noise that your head has to be right up to the unit to even hear. So it noise is your concern this is the unit to buy.The controls are simple. One button and one light for everything. See a sort of bright green light - it's on low. See a very bright green light - it's on high. See a white light - it's on automatic(will keep the room at 55% humidity or so which is ideal. See a red light? That means it's out of water.(but I'd still like a water level indicator)I love this thing. It's quiet and can humidify to the point of comfort for an average sized bedroom or small office. This will NOT humidify your whole house or whole lower floor if you have an open floor plan...but my needs are small. It's bigger than I thought - about the size of a large shoebox turned on end. The mist that comes out is nearly invisible, but it does a great job.

This thing is great!
This humidifier worked as advertised for me. Simple functionality and really sends out a lot of humid air on high. It's impressive to watch. I've had a cold for awhile and set it on auto mode in my bedroom last night. It was by far the best sleep I've had in a long time! The only negative I've found is that the light on the front is really really bright. Not a big problem but if you have it in your bedroom and are trying to sleep you'll definitely notice it's lighting up the room. I'll just tint some scotch tape with a marker and tape that over the light... problem solved.Others have mentioned that the humidifier leaks and I wanted to comment on those. I got one that is sealed properly but looking at how it was manufactured I could see how these would have leak issues. The water tank isn't a tank... it's more of a water partition with sealant that attaches it on the inside of the cover. Normally people would think of a cover as a mechanism to protect the inside components. In this case applying enough pressure by squeezing the cover would probably lead to some brief warping (it's plastic after all) and that warping may be enough to tear the sealant attaching the partition to the cover... leading to leaks. It's not the greatest design in that regard, but as long as you don't run into it while vaccuming, or kick it really hard it's probably going to last for you. Worst case, just glue gun the thing back to a sealed state. After using it, I love the thing and highly recommend it.

Aesthetic, quiet, simple - but ineffective in a large room
The Roolen Breath is unquestionably the most aesthetically pleasing humidifier on the market. It is amazingly quiet, and simple to use. It runs a long time without requiring refills. However, that very fact is the reason I returned it. It simply does not convert enough liquid water into vapour to effectively humidify a large room. I suspect it is ideal for small rooms, but Roolen claims it is adequate for large rooms, and this simply isn't the case. I purchased a hygrometer to measure the humidity in my room. Even when the Roolen was operating on the high setting, it only raised the room's humidity by 2-3% in 12 hours! It simply didn't perform. So I reluctantly returned it and purchased another brand. My new humidifer raises my room's humidity by over 20% in 12 hours. This of course results in more frequent refills, but the whole point in purchasing a humidifier is to humidify you living space, so that inconvenience is unavoidable.

5/5 Amazing Humidifier
Love it's adherence to simplicity. One button does it all but what really distinguishes the piece is that it has internal sensors to guage humidity levels. This makes for a unit that you don't have to constantly refill. Perhaps one refill every 1.5 days is what we're up to but it depends on ambient humidity also of course. This thing is quiet too. Can barely hear it.Lastly, it's actually a nice design and can easily go anywhere for that reason.
