My child already reads at a 2nd grade level, but her teacher wants us to get her math upto a first grade level. So as extra practice at home this book is great, it's colorful and fun! She really enjoys working on it and I love that!! It has counting, adding, subtracting, which she has already learned in the first semester of school and we used this as a review. As well as geometry, measurements, time, and money; which she will be learning in the second semester. Perfect tool, definitely plan to stay busy with your child; my daughter loves working on this when we work on it together. This whole series is an amazing tool to help them get the spectrum of math skills with a beautifully colorful presentation and an absolutely elegant progression of exercises meant to train any students' mind to gain all the math skills at a conceptual level. The kids love it! kids working with other materials beg and pester me to have a Sylvan Book. Students don't want to go out and do other activities because they so enjoy working with their math book!
