19.2 Impact Driver
Let me first start off by saying that I am in the construction trade, specializing in deck and pergola contruction.I have used this drill for well over 2 years and have like it so much, I ended up buying a companion for it. Driving screws is where I have found the biggest benefit of an impact driver because the screw heads no longer become "vandal-proof" (term used for gutting the screw head making them impossible to drive or remove from a board) by the bit spinning in the top of the screw. While not extremely lightweight, it is smaller than a normal sized 18-volt drill. With the standard NiCad battery, I am able to get 5-6 hours of solid repetitive use out of the drill without having to replace with a new, recharged battery. If you own any of the other C3 tools, pick this item up. You won't be sorry. If you don't, buying the drill, the batteries and the charger can quickly add up in regards to price.

Love this tool!
I didn't know I could not live without an impact driver until I owned one! It's that good. Great for driving deck screws with out stripping the screw heads like I used to do with my Craftsman power drill. If I have to turn a screw (or small bolt) I quite often use this tool if I have the room to do so. I have used it from working on my car's convertible top, the patio deck and assembling furniture to name a few tasks that this worked well.

Craftsman Impact Driver Model # 17080
shipped quickly although item could have been protected better than the minimal bubble-wrap inside generic paper shipping package (no impact protection without enclosing in a box). With obvious shipping mishandling evident on the package, I carefully checked the item for proper operation and thankfully, it worked as expected. Whew, dodged one there. If there was any indication that packaging the item properly for shipping was going to be a concern, I would have thought twice about this purchase. But, the item worked, so no further complaints.

works ok
This is not a DeWalt. If I had to do it over again I would spend the money for a Dewalt. However, if you only use it once in a while it works great. It doesn't have the torque of the dewalt. The people who say the bit falls out, they needed to purchase "Impact bits" they have a special notch in them to keep them locked in. This does NOT drive the screws in as deep as the C3 Craftsman Drill. You get what you pay for.

Never going back...
... to my drill-drivers! This baby drives three inch deck screws through 2x4s without having to first drill a hole. Took down a small shed and framed a large shed by myself with various screws with various heads - and only broke one bit. Realized it wasn't an impact bit. Holds a charge well... only had to change once during the seven hour day. Built-in light helps as well.

Impact Driver...Does the job
I bought this because I was doing some garage projects and wanted something powerful to drive 2"+ screws into wood. This did exactly that and I've had Craftsman power tools before with good success, and this one seems to follow that trend. I would say I can't exactly do a comparison to other brands such as DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Ryobi, etc...but I'm happy with it and the battery is interchangeable with my other Craftsman drill.

I have several of the C3 tools and like them all and was very surprised by this sub-standard ...
I was hoping for more from this impact driver. I ran a test against my C3, 3/8 inch drill. The drill actually drove 4 inch Timberlok screws into Douglas Fur faster that the impact driver! I honestly cannot see the benefit of having this tool. I have several of the C3 tools and like them all and was very surprised by this sub-standard performance.
