Review: Work well but ecowitt hub needed. - These seem to be recommended by a lot of Home Assistant users. They came in brown boxes (a good thing), well packaged. Pretty easy to setup..pop in a AA battery, open the ecowitt app, add them. You can set up alarms,calibrate them, all within the app. One thing, they are bright green, so easy to see, dark green would be better. Good range out garden isn't huge but the signal is good. One other thing to note, you do need the ecowitt hub, a small USB box that's permanently on. All in all I like them.

**Q: Can these be connected to an automated sprinkler system for a lawn? It would seem a fantastic idea!**
A: I think there's the possibility but it's not direct. Ecowitt products will send data feeds to Weather Underground. Weather underground can then connect to ITTT. If your sprinklers are ITTT compatible for on/off then with a bit of research and the right script. It should be possible.

**Q: Can these stay in the soil year round to monitor my garden? Or are they popped in to take a reading then removed**
A: they are popped in to take a reading then removed, it needs the betteries

**Q: Can I connect multiple sensors to one gateway?**
A: Yes, I have two soil moisture sensors on one gateway. Works well.

**Q: Can these be left in the ground all year round?**
A: In winter, the soil hardens and damages the sensors
