If the reservoir is off, does it need to be filled and turned on before brewing a pot?** A: We plug ours into a timer. It comes on at 3am. and off at 11am so16 hours a day its not heating or using electricity. Been doing this with the same timer for 15 years. Never a problem. Plus it stays warm for a long time after turning off, and only takes around 10 minutes to heat when cold.
