This is false advertising. The journal is perfectly okay if you want something just to write in, but I sure wouldn't expect it to last very long. It's troublesome to need to return something which is misrepresented. If you don't want a leather journal, you'll be happy with it. One person asked what the slits in the cover are for; you can place the charms in them to secure the closure. These charms will leave indentation marks on the cover if you plan to carry this in your handbag or something. If this was not advertised as leather, it would probably get 5 stars. But, if you're expecting leather and receive this, you won't be happy. Leather lasts forever, imitation leather does not. I called Amazon and told them the description should be corrected, but doubt it will happen. Too late, I read another 1 star review which pointed out exactly what I'm saying. But, unfortunately, I didn't see that review before I ordered. I wouldn't have ordered this item. ### ⭐ Spend more on something nicer *by A***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2021* For reference, this is the 8.5 inch or A5 paper sized journal in "retro brown" color.I recently got back into writing and thought something amusing like this would be nice to have. I figured I'd get it, check it out and decide what to do with it from there. It's uh... not really functional.The journal arrived in a nice little box. Somehow, it got bent. A lot. The journal itself has such an aggressive bend that it gets in your way and the paper is bent beyond reasonable use. Beside that, the paper itself is okay for writing or drawing, bit of a brownish color but that's kind of fun for this sort of thing.There were flecks of paper all over the inside of the journal. It was obnoxious to clean these up and I couldn't really get rid of them all. It's one of those things where if you get rid of one, two tiny ones take its place. Ridiculous. There was also a spot of dried... something...For the price, it's obviously not leather. But I didn't expect something that seemed like it was textured cardboard.Also, the charm meant to close the journal up is on too short of a line. This is probably part of why the thing is bent too much.If you're buying this for a kid, go for it. They'll get a kick out of it.
