Thanks!** A: the slots are a pair of 5 and they do not completely meet in the middle of the ruler. so, if you are using a rotary cutter, you would only get about 6.5" of cutting before having to move the ruler on the fabric, reposition and continue cutting. so "yes", the slots are big enough to cut with rotary, but they are only 6.5" long so therefore would need to be moved around a bit, depending upon how long your bias tape would be. hope this helps. **Q: does this come with instructions** A: Yes, it comes with an instructional pamphlet. **Q: are the scales etched?** A: Mine are just black on the ruler, no etching. **Q: Are the grid lines built into the plastic or printed onto the plastic? It's nice a big, I love the multipurpose/2 in 1 ruler shape as I don't find I need a separate hip curve on its own. The thickness of the ruler is also a plus, I hate when rulers are thin because they feel cheap.
