This machine is intuitive and easy to use
This machine is intuitive and easy to use. I was pleasantly surprized at some of the features like the drop-in bobbin loading(super easy) and the needle threader. The thread cutter is even in a better place than my old machine.

Wife didn't like it.
It was inexpensive but lacked quite a bit of features. The reasons why it was returned are:1) all selections are mechanical not digital.2) the spool holder was too short and spools would wobble3) no stitch speed control4) no needle position choice/control5) pressure foot control felt cheap/flimsyInstead my wife wanted and we ended up purchasing the ST150HDH Brother unit on Amazon. It was more expensive but it does everything she felt was important and she tested it on sixteen layers of cotton and the stitches were perfect. It appears very robust.

Very useful machine, and easy to use.
Pros: easy to use.Cons: accessory storage compartment not really usefulModel Number: XM3700I bought this sewing machine and another similarly priced Brother. While they both stitch very well, I chose this one for its "more sewing machine, less toy-like" appearance (and sold the other one to a friend). One thing I don't like about the new machine's accessory holders is that they don't have a "lid", so unless everything is first placed into a plastic bag and then put in the holder, things will fall out. The machine I'm replacing (after more than 20 years - it has given up reversing/backstitching) had an easily accessible, useful compartment. Neither of the two Brother machines have that. It took me a while to find out how to use the "additional stitches" and all I had to do was turn the stitch length dial to SS position to make that happen. I had no trouble threading the machine on the top, the bobbin, or using the automatic threader. It doesn't do a fantastic job of top-stitching through many layers, but I can work around that. I am really enjoying it! Very happy with the purchase indeed.
