The company subscribes to the principle that beautifully designed, high-quality objects can be created at reasonable prices. Skagen watches represent the technical excellence, refined design and operational simplicity that have created the unique reputation of Danish design. The fishing village of Skagen--the Skaw--lies where the northern-most tip of the Danish peninsula known as Jutland bends East and breaks the surging waters of the Kattegat and Skagerak seas. The spectacular natural beauty of the area is compellingly beautiful, and its white sandy beaches have been visited by artists for centuries. Maintaining Your Skagen WatchEnsure that the crown is returned to the normal operating position before the watch comes in contact with water.Do not take your watch into a Hot Tub or Sauna. Under normal conditions, the seals in your Skagen watch will deteriorate and may need to be replaced every 2-3 years. Have your Skagen watch serviced by an official service center. All Skagen watches operate with standard batteries. When necessary, any jeweler can replace them for you. Different models are water resistant to varying degrees. Please refer to the back of your watch for the water resistant rating. How To Set The Time And Date Pull the crown out to the middle position. Rotate the crown to set date Pull the crown out to fully extended position and rotate crown to set desired time. Push the crown back to its normal position. The date and time are now set. Cleaning Your Skagen Watch Skagen suggests the following solutions for cleaning metal and crystal surfaces:3:1 solution of ammonia based window cleaner to water4:1 solution of rubbing alcohol to water.Do not use soap products. These suggested solutions will evaporate cleanly from metal and glass surfaces. Soap will leave residue behind when dry. To clean the case and crystal: Moisten a soft cloth with one of the above solutions. Gently wipe the case and crystal clean. Be careful not to put too much stress on the crystal as you clean. *NEVER immerse or soak the case/crystal portion of the watch, regardless of water resistance rating. Moisture could seep past the seals over time.To clean the band or strap: Skagen soft mesh bands are easily adjustable. Simply insert a small screwdriver or similar tool into the clasp. Lift up the clasp without applying pressure to the thin pin across the clasp and move to desired position. Snap closed securely. Make sure the clasp is set in one of the indentations on the back of the band. Link bands are completely adjustable anywhere watches are serviced. Skagen suggests the following practices for cleaning metal, rubber and leather surfaces: Metal watchbands Dip a cotton swab in the above solution, and gently rub it into the soiled portion of the band. For more intricate mesh bands, you may want to use a soft bristle toothbrush or nailbrush. Be sure to cover the case of the watch during this process so as not to soak it. For stubborn soil, you may want to bring it to a jeweler for a professional cleaning.Rubber watchstraps Simply wipe them down with a damp, soft cloth. Avoid soaps and solvents as they may dry or crack the plastic.Leather watchstraps: Top Grain Top grain leather can be characterized by its smooth, somewhat shiny appearance. To clean this type of leather, follow the same procedure as with the rubber watchband. Simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth, using water only. You may want to use leather conditioner or a small amount of hand lotion to keep the leather supple over time. Top grain leather may develop a milky "haze" if left alone for extended periods. This can simply be wiped away or removed with leather conditioner.Leather watchstraps: Nubuck This is essentially full grain leather with the top layer shaved off, leaving a flat, smooth finish. A product called a "nubuck eraser" can be found at better shoe repair shops. It will help to remove most light stains and debris from nubuck. sleek and elegant design
sleek and elegant designthe picture doesn't do it justice, the stainless steel is highly polished and the mother of pearl face gives off beautiful colors in changing lighting.the band is comfortable, easily adjusted and the clasp is very sturdy.the crystal is very clear and the face is easy to read, there is no second hand though, if that concerns you.it's very thin and light weight as far as size, a nickel perfectly covers the crystal and a quarter will cover the entire body including the knob, so if you put a nickel on top of a quarter you can get an idea of the size and the thickness of the entire watch.

Nice but smaller than I thought
Elegant but simple and lightweight. Thought the face would be larger by the photo but I didn't actually look at the measurement. I wanted something larger but I didn't want the hassle of returning this one and the price was good. The metal around the face does scratch easily. I slightly bumped into a smooth wall and it scratched the metal. Sizing the band is easy -- just look online for a video, and without having to remove any links it fits your wrist.

Classy
I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife. The watch is very high quality, and the stainless steel is just beautiful. The mother-of-pearl inlay is very nice and not over done. This watch just looks classy and goes well with both work or casual clothes. For point of reference, the watch face is about the size of a US Quarter. The watch is surprisingly light and the band very flexible. The watch band is highly adjustable, and does not involve removing any loops of the band since the band is a steel weave. Instead, there is an small lever built into the fastener and small ribs in the watch band. To adjust the band all that is required is to loosen the lever, move the latch to the right location and then tighten it down again. You'll need a small screwdriver to do this as it cinches tightly onto the band.I wanted to get my wife a watch that was quite nice, had a high build quality, but one that was not extremely expensive. This Skagen watch gets 5 stars on all three of those criteria. We both love it.

Love it but it doesn't love me
I love skagen watches, and this one is my favorite design, for the pearlized sleek, simple beauty of its appearance and the perfect size for my chicken-leg like wrist. I have now owned three. Not because I keep them for different occasions, but because I have a little Skagen graveyard of them going, minus the one that fell off my wrist and was never seen again. I have had the crystals break on two of them. I have also had the pin fall out of the band and nearly lost one. I have not worn them for outdoor activities or rough work, but I have worn them for every day, and I am thinking at this point that, at least for me, a Skagen watch is a special occasion watch. Problem is, it's so much nicer looking than any "functional" and harder wearing watch, it is hard for me not to wear it every day. This design may be especially prone to damage to the crystal, as the case is even with the crystal, whereas some of the designs feature a case that sticks up higher than, and perhaps therefore protects, the crystal. Bottom line: very beautiful. For me, not sturdy enough for regular use.

I love this watch
First, this is my third Skaagen watch. I lost the other two at the beach. I always get replacements because these watches are really comfortable and flat. The bands, with the fine steel mesh, are extremely light and comfortable. They never pinch or smell funny in the heat like some leather bands do.I got this particular watch as a change from the other two I lost because I particularly like the mother of pearl watch face. It is on two levels - the center is slightly recessed from the edges. It is so subtle against the silver face. One thing to note on most of these watches. Few of them have a second hand. This one has neither a second hand nor a date. I like the lack of a second hand because my eye is never tricked into seeing the wrong time. You may not however. All in all, the watch is extremely attractive, easy to read, and very comfortable. I love it as much as my other 2.

poor quality
In less then six months several of the numbers fell off the face of the watch and came loose. The watch looked great, but very disappointed with the short lifetime of this watch.

Great watch for 3 months beware not water resistant at all.
I love Skagen watches, our family have 5 of them but our most recent watches (purchased in the last 12 months) have shown signs of inferior made in China (which they are) quality. The look is fantastic and elegant and the strap comfortable and unique. Kept great time and worked great for 3 months until I brought it into contact with water for the first time. Was just soaked in a rainstorm (watch was never submerged at all) and the next day I find condensation on the inside of the watch glass so bad that I could not read the face. It's not an expensive watch but I do expect it to be water resistant which at 3 ATM which is what it says on the case, I should not encounter something like this which renders the watch useless. Will update you on their warranty service but 5-8 weeks is just a pain.UPDATE - Sent the watch in for warranty and got back a brand new one. Good warranty service and only took 2 weeks.

Simplicity, Beauty.
This watch is exactly what I wanted! The last time I wear a legit watch was maybe 10 years ago. I hate watches because I think they are tacky. However, I think I've been poor on my time management. I'm going to graduate school in a month and I really need to use my time smartly. So I need a wrist watch! I need my watch to be as minimal as possible and has to have a mother of pearl dial (Yes. That's how particular I am!). So this is it! It looks much more expensive in person. And the hands are moving! Yeah! My last Fossil watch did not move when I got it :( And I'm not gonna take it off. It's probably the most minimal design I've ever seen. The watch is very thin and light weight. The dial is beautiful. And it's very easy to adjust the clasp to the right position that suits my wrist. My only complaint is that it'd be nicer if there's a seconds hand so I can stare at it as it moves when my mind slips, just kidding. All in all, I love it!

E' il secondo orologio che acquisto di questa marca danese. ottima la fattura apparentemente molto semplici ma sempre con quel tocco in più. Quadrante in madreperla stile retrò. ancora più carino di quello che mi aspettassi

Great everyday watch
This watch works perfect for my everyday. It is very versatile and simple in design, which means I can wear it dressed up or down. Its slim design also doesn't get caught on things, which is a bonus.
