But . . . why is everyone so grumpy? A bunch of bad days one after the other lead Zoey to suspect that something more is afoot. It's up to Zoey and Sassafras to solve the mystery before they end up with one bummer of a summer! Each story in the Zoey and Sassafras series features a new magical animal with a problem that must be solved using science. There isn't a set formula for each book; Zoey sometimes needs to run experiments, while other times she needs to investigate a mystery, and yet other times she needs to do research. Zoey models how to keep a science journal through her handwritten entries in each story. Each story is complete with a glossary of the kid-friendly definitions for scientific terms used. The series highlights child-led inquiry science and the topics covered align with both Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. Review: Great series for elementary students, teaches science! - Love this series! You can buy them in packs to make a great Christmas gift (Usually I see them as 6 books for ~23.00, I think - which is a great price!!!). Reading level is 2nd grade, so if your little one is an early reader they may be able to read it in 1st grade. The stories are great for older kids, too. I enjoyed them and I love that it teaches kids science as part of the story. Also, when Zoey faces a problem or makes a mistake, she carries on and finds a solution. She's a good role model for any child. The website also has a couple of experiments and worksheets (free) for you to use if you want to really learn about the science lessons in each book. Review: Great educational content - Great series, science based but fun. My 9 years old loves it! ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #19,399 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #160 in Children's Dragon, Unicorn & Mythical Creatures Stories #250 in Children's Cat Books (Books) #278 in Children's Nature Books (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.9 out of 5 stars 1,495 Reviews | ## Images ![Grumplets and Pests: Zoey and Sassafras #7 - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91I3JF4AmRL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great series for elementary students, teaches science! *by S***M on November 24, 2019* Love this series!
