I am not sure what hook and loop mean - does it have the loop for the thumb and then velcro at the end to secure it** A: 120 is the perfect age to start boxing. I know some ladies who like the 180's cause they provide a lot of extra padding, because of small hands. Most ladies with small hands, prefer to use the 120's because they have a better fit. It's going to come down to personal preference. Just stay away from the 108's because those are for little kids.
