Gran torismo, but not as we knew it
Ok to start with , this is very different than the past games. It's mainly on line and verging on e sports .I'm not sure if this is just for this version or wether Gran tourismo has changed to be an e sport racer for good.Only the arcade racing section doesn't require online connection , the rest of the game you must be online. That being said , the graphics are really good , But I haven't tried VR yet , and VR is only a one on one challenge races. The challenges are ok and help you get points and bonus tracks , cars .The real aim of this version , is the online racing. e sports style. And FIA approved on line championships to be raced.I like it so far and for me is in between forza 7 and p cars 2 . P cars being the best , followed by Gt sport , with Forza 7 coming third. All these racers are great and I enjoy them all. Forza is very much the arcade , Gt sport the inbetween to p cars 2 .There are classifications to driving online and the cleaner driver and faster you become the better match you will get online. This is good to stop the head bangers that run havoc in races.Much like p cars 2 has done . There is some great fun to be had even racing the AI , but the online racing is where this racer works best.If you were expecting the usual Gran tourismo then this might not be for you. It's aimed at e sport racing and Works really well as such. It's different in a good way in my opinion .There are so many YouTube reviews to watch before you buy.Best watch those and you will see that Gran tourismo has moved on ,( in this version any way )It isn't perfect but what racer is.?The enjoyment and immersion for me is addictive.

GT Sport - Very good but very different. Updates will improve the game even more.
Fantastic graphics, improved sound, 60fps, excellent car handling, slick menu's, decent load time's, GT Sport is the most polished GT has been in a long time and it has a very impressive Photo Mode too. This is very different to past games though, with a bigger focus on online racing and less focus on single player, car collecting. The single player Campaign Mode has a mix of Licence Tests, Racing and Challenges, with the idea to make a player better at driving for the online mode. All the championships are online now though and is set up as a e-sport, which actually works very well.It does have less cars and tracks at the moment but more will be added into the game over time.If you can get past the changes, it's an excellent game, if you can't then you might be better waiting until they add in more cars and track.UPDATE - A patch was released to allow more modes to be played offline and another Free update will be coming later this month to add GT League, which is the Single Player Championships from the old GT games (Sunday Cup ect) and 12 new cars too.

Gran Turismo in name only... MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!
If you were ever a true Gran Turismo fan then you will be severely disappointed by this offering... Gran Turismo in name ONLY. Virtually everything that made GT what it was, beyond the cars, has been removed or bastardised in Sport. Several post release updates tried to fix the matter adding in a single player mode... yes this game launched as online/arcade only... I mean that tells you enough as it is....Single player universe was what GT was all about. No more tuning or upgrades, just a rotating dial of numbers to boost performance. What... the...hell...?!Fortunately there is a true GT7 on the way on PS5... if it reverts back to the original format as promised then that alone would be worth buying a PS5 IMO... hard-core GT fans... avoid Sport like it was covid.

Great racing game in its own right.
This is a great racing game in its own right which tries something different in that it's geared to making people race with eachother, currently this is the best example of online racing anywhere where a person who hasn't raced online can jump in without being penalised too much with cars ghosting which allows the race to continue, an example would be to compare online with Project Cars 2 where people would crash or pile up within the first 30 seconds and the game would be over for half of the players, Gran Turismo Sport gets this right. Single player is geared towards making you drive better and to compete online and if you're basing this game on a nostalgic trip from 10 years ago Gran Turismo games you will be disappointed, the old is gone move with the times as the best races are against other players. The graphics, the racing, the livery editor and social functions are a tier above other racers and the only downside is the always online connection in the hope that nothing actually goes wrong with the games servers, understand this the game works, it's only the thought that it might not work which has many people upset and you can't base life on a just in case scenario, the games launched which means it already has the most players at any single moment so if there's a problem it would've happen. You don't need PS+ to play this game those are lies made by people who haven't purchased the game but you do need PS+ for racing online just like any other PS4.The reason why I've given GT Sport a 4 star instead of 5 is simply because I don't know if or when they'll be more tracks to race on, the tracks in the game are enough for a for 3 or 4 months and there has been word they'll be more but I have to base things on actual facts and not hearsay therefore 4 stars. It's more entertaining than Project Cars 2, DriveClub or Assetto Corsa and doesn't have any paid season pass or microtransactions like those games or Forza 7 and for that reason 4 stars has turned back into a 5. Games like GT Sport are a rare and dying breed as it will provide more cars and extra tracks for the original asking price, there is no sneaky fees and for that I commend the makers of this game. Don't worry about the naysayers if you can read this review than you have internet and can play GT Sport, highly recommended because this game is a juggernaut and like most PS4 only games it will receive hate from fans of the competition, ignore them and enjoy some great racing moments this has the wow factor.

Post-launch updates are finally making this the game it should've been.
Gran Turismo: Sport Steelbook Edition (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk) (PS4) Firstly, The Amazon-Exclusive Steelbook is exquisite. The gold monotone brushed metallic finish is a superb product. This Special Edition comes with extra cars, liveries, avatars etc. After 4 years in development, there's no getting away from the fact that the launch of this game left a lot of the video game racing community disappointed. There's no dispute that the game looks fantastic - unbelievably realistic. It is miles ahead of the competition. The cars are modelled with meticulous detail, taking months to create. The circuits are laser scanned and lush with trackside scenery and activities. The handling, although not a 100% sim, is intuitive and responsive. It has decent feedback, is more forgiving than a sim and at times more enjoyable. It's Gran Turismo handling.But.... In comparison with the previous Gran Turismo games, Gran Turismo Sport was an iteration where a completely new approach has been preferred. Gone was the traditional offline Campaign/Career mode that included Championships, Endurance races etc, in favour of an almost entirely online racing approach. There is a small offline 'Campaign mode' however, than encompasses four sub-modes to select from: Driving School, Mission Challenge, Circuit Experience and Racing Etiquette. Within each of these sub-modes, players are presented with a huge amount of objectives to complete, and rewarded with cars, as usual. It can become tiresome after a while. The online Daily races and private lobbies are pretty slick. Smooth and fuss-free player matching and entry, all in accordance with you driver and safety ratings. There is an Arcade mode for custom one-off races, an impressive livery editor where you can either use in-game decals or upload your own, and there's the obligatory Gran Turismo 'Photomode' called Scapes... and that's about it.Until now...Just before Christmas '17, saw a huge update. Introduced were a number of new cars, new circuits or variations of existing ones.... and finally a one-player campaign mode, similar to the traditional FR, MR, Clubman Cup we all knew and loved. The game is so different now to what is on the disc, which is disappointing. But it's now becoming the game we all wanted at launch, with the promise of more to come.I'm getting more game time with this than the bug-ridden Project Cars 2, which I didn't think would be the case a few months ago.Still not perfect, but an essential title to join the rest of the racing titles out there already.
