Providing optimum performance at a low noise level, the Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm Case Fan gracefully achieves the impossible feat that it's name suggest. Featuring a newly designed impeller, this 120mm Case Fan enables silent, high-end cooling for the latest and greatest PC devices, many of which can run very hot. Infused with innovative technology, the Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm Case Fan offers a newly designed motor and support mechanism that uses a double vibration reduction structure, incorporating coil dampers to greatly reduce vibration. As far as noise is concerned, the Scythe Gentle Typhoon boasts a different type of tone with a uniquely contoured propeller that is designed to reduce that off-putting fan frequency that is often heard by PC users.

Modder? Watercooling junkie? Performance enthusiast? Silence freak? Look no further!
With the watercooled system that I have, I needed some fans that were silent, high performance, and able to be disassembled for painting. These fans fit all three criteria. I initially opted for the Noctua PPC fans, but $30 per fan was slightly out of my price range. My PC is a red-and-black theme and I desired to paint the fan hubs red to fit the build aesthetic accordingly. Although disassembly wasn't exactly a breeze, it was possible and done so successfully (for modding tips, I suggest visiting a forum) with absolutely no loss of performance. If you do not plan on modding these fans, I cannot recommend them enough over other brands.I believe that if I had anything to complain about (aside from price), it would be that these fans are not PWM controlled like my older Noctuas. However, I have overcome this with my Asus motherboard's Fan Xpert software. My rig is now silent, cool, and most of all, looks absolutely amazing, as you will note from the photos. They receive my highest recommendation.

Extremely quiet, but you might need more airflow
I bought this fan in hopes that it would quiet down my computer due to a very noisy fan installed on its CPU water cooler. My computer sounded like a big hair dryer prior to installing the Scythe fan. The fan turns at a low 1150 rpm, but is almost silent. Unfortunately, airflow wasn't sufficient to keep the CPU cool. I replaced this fan with the 1850 rpm Scythe Gentle Typhoon. More airflow and almost as silent. My CPU runs at a good temperature and my computer is almost noiseless. The 1150 rpm model is great if you just need to move a little extra air around. The 1850 rpm model is the best choice if you need more cooling, but hard core gamers might need even more airflow. The 1850 rpm model works great for me. Highly recommended.

Quiet, not quite a typhoon. Good blade design.
There are faster turning models from this manufacturer. They are hard to get. This turns 1160 RPM at 12VDC, unobstructed. About the same as Noctua NF-P12 in air throughput at the same back-pressure and a little quieter than the already quiet P12. I would buy the 1850 RPM model if I could get it. More vibration transmitted through the structure than the P12 but it's not bad.

Best Fans I've Found
I tried MANY different fans attempting to achieve adequate cooling at a noise level I could tolerate and the Scythe Gentle Typhoons have been the best. The only other fans that came close were Yate Loon and Nexus Real Silent (which are really just rebadged Yate Loons at lower RPMs) but those are sleeve bearing, not ball bearing like the Scythe, so they tend not to last as long and aren't recommended in high heat applications like PSUs or mounting horizontally.

Quiet, but a little under-perform
I have 2 of these fans, one runs at 1150rpm, and the other at 1180rpm, averagely. They are quiet, but seem to blow a little less air than the so-darn-noisy 120mm back fan I pulled out of my Sonata Antec III Quiet case. Because of that, I decided to put one in the back & one in the front. I'm ok with them after 2 weeks of use, so they're keepers. My main use of PC is for computer recording, so the quietness of the PC is critical.

This is perfection.
This is awesome and still running perfectly. I bought this long ago to install in a Visual FX computer that I built. I have no regrets what so ever in getting the Typhoon.Note: I have it connected to a fan controller for when I need absolute silence.

Silent and highly efficient
I got this to use as a front panel case fan for my desktop rig. Provides an excellent airflow/current through my case. I highly recommend Scythe and I am considering buying more.
