They are durable and can withstand rough play without breaking. My son has thrown them, they have been stepped on by everyone in the family and my son likes to build towers and "Hulk Smash" them. We havent had a single broken piece and have had frequent play for nearly 2 years. Between the heavier plastic and the magnet strength, they can build tall towers without falling as well as do not fall apart with slight touches. The Magnets are in well and not one has fallen out despite rough play, unlike other brands we have tried. They are also so easy to clean. I use a clorox wipe and it makes it so easy. I have not tried washing them in the sink as I don't want the Magnets to lose their strength nor do I want them to rust. Interest level: My son, now 4, struggles with staying focused and interested in anything more than a few minutes. These tiles are a staple in our house. My son plays with them nearly every day and will sit and play for an hour at time, longer if we play with him. He doesn't lose intest in them right away like so many other toys.
