Heavy on performance but light on mass, the Ksyrium Elite S wheels pack a lot of technology into a wheelset that doesn't cost a fortune. The Ksyrium Elites are based on Ksyrium SL S's. Slight adjustments like ISM instead of ISM 3D milling, bladed stainless steel instead of Zircal aluminum spokes, and an aluminum front hub shell help to keep the price down. Steel spokes tend to flex a bit more than aluminum (especially Mavic's Zicral) which makes these wheels a touch less stiff compared to the the Ksyrium SL S's, but what steel spokes lack in stiffness they make up for in comfort. They have greater ability to absorb impacts and road vibration and deliver a smoother ride for it. This makes the Ksyrium Elites perfect for the elite cyclist who wants a fast wheel but isn't ready to give up comfort. Many of us simply don't need a crit-worthy stiff wheel, and the Elite is thus a great choice. Maxtal aluminum rims and QRM+ bearings keep the Ksyrium Elite's lightt, fast, durable, and easy to maintain. For 2013, the Ksyrium SL S set comes shod with Mavic's Yksion Pro Griplink (front) and Powerlink (rear) tires. The Griplink is chosen specifically for the front wheel to guide you through any road condition with confidence. It's extra grippy compound indicates that cornering control is it's main goal. In the rear, the Powerlink tire will help get all your power to the ground, and is a great match for the responsive Mavic rear hub.
