Economical way to repair/replace internal door knob parts and keep existing knobs/locks
Was having difficulty with a 20 yr old Kwikset Titan door knob opening and closing the door. Appeared the latch was not fully being retracted into the door and the latch would catch the strike plate (about 1/4"). Spindle was worn out and not repairable and I didn't want to replace the knob hardware. Color would never match another door 8 feet away and the lock worked fine. Ordered this spindle set and replaced mine perfectly. Very easy to swap parts, spray with WD40 and expect another 20 yrs. I would recommend purchasing a Kwikset Cylinder Removal Tool for disassembly of older knobs. The pic ... lower spindle shows the wear from engaging the latch over the years and upper spindle is the new one. They are really the same length. Could not find this product in any big box store!!
