I am in Dallas TX, these small lights have been exposed to high wind, torrential rain, large hail, snow and ice. The ones on the East and West sides get full sun exposure, but the south facing is slightly protected by a large tree, I do not see any difference in brightness level. They still look great and work fantastic after one year. They don't give much light, but enough to see my way in the dark. **Q: Do you remove the clear plastic over the photocell?** A: Yes. Remove clear plastic. **Q: What size are the screws? And what size drill bit? I need to install on concrete steps and I'd like to buy concrete screws. thanks :)** A: Very small screws. I would say #4. I used a 1/16 wood drill bit to mount into wood. I think you would have a tough time mounting into concrete. I don't think they make a concrete screw that small let alone a concrete bit. **Q: I am confused...received these and only part of them have the protective plastic over the solar collection panel. Would that indicate these are used?** A: The plastic over the solar panel is simply there to protect the lights when in storage or during shipment. It should be removed when the lights are installed. There is a small piece of plastic inserted into the light to prevent the battery from contacting the ground wire and completing the circuit. This is to prevent the battery from draining and to retain a charge so the lights will work straight out of the box. If that plastic tab is intact, these lights are factory new and you should have no problem using them.
