However, I do have a few gripes. One, the retraction is pretty noisy as the loose metal parts clank around and bounce on the door. It’s not terrible, but it’s loud enough that it could be an issue if needed in a quiet area or near sleeping kids. Two, the contact points where the lever and holding leg meet have started to wear after about two months, which was causing the retraction action to not work right. The leg would just barely raise, not enough for the spring to take over and pull it up. I was able to resolve it with just a touch of WD40 on those points. Not a huge deal, just be prepared to lubricate it occasionally. Other than that, it was easy to install and serves its purpose. Only time will truly tell when it comes to longevity. UPDATE. 4 months later and the second of the two I have installed was starting to jam up and not retract properly. A drop of WD40 on the contact point fixed it as well. The first one is still going strong after being lubed one time and hundreds of additional uses. For the money these things are great.
