Resin Ice Techs!
I'm so happy that I went with resin... About a year into riding my new bike, I was sailing through the mountains and began to notice my braking became less effective and needed to grab much more lever and the noise that comes from dirty brake pads... You could probably hear me on the descents trying to ninja my way downhill, but ultimately sounding like an 18 wheeler honking it's horn. Something like that... It was WAY too noisy and I was embarrassed to even go out riding. But yeah, horrible braking and unbearable noise. So I bought these, and couldn't be any more stoked to hit the trails. They're super quiet as others have mentioned, and have fantastic stopping power. Upon doing some research, I've heard that they don't last as long as metallics, but I would much rather have a more effective and more quiet brake pad than one that lasts longer. Oh well. Only time will tell, and right now I can say that i'm digging these. Plus they add some eye candy to your rig. Highly recommend!

Shimano F01A Resin Disc Pads
I have the Resin pads (F01A) in the back, and the Metal (F03A) in front, using Shimano XT disc brakes on my Santa Cruz Blur LTc mountain bike. Overall, both have improved my XT braking power over the original pads, but I prefer the feel of the Resin over the metal. It is softer and wears faster, but it is quieter and seems to be smoother when braking. I will be replacing the front ones with Resin when they wear out. It may just be in my head, but I feel that the fins do help during long downhill rides in cooling the brakes faster and making it easier to brake well. I don't see any reason to switch to any other brands to makes, as these really work well.

Easy replacement and real performance upgrade
Since swapping out the OE pads with these most of my descents have been relatively short, but I carry a lot of mass at a lot of speed even on half-mile downhills and these have proven fade-free. Excellent power and modulation. Replacement was super easy, by far the easiest pad swap I've ever done. My XT M785 brakes have the threaded pad holder, not the cotter pin, which made an easy replacement even easier. Retracting the caliper with a tool for that purpose was effective and the pads didn't creep back in and close up the space when I removed the tool. I've always split my brand loyalty between Avid and Hayes. Since I bought my Breezer Supercell with XT brakes, I'm a convert. Great brakes + simple serviceability = change of loyalty.

Awesome pads for your shimano brakes!
These pads are awesome. Always work great with the XT brakes. I go through about 1 pair a year, but happy with the stopping performance and they are nice and quiet until you hit the wear indicators. They install in minutes too.

Metals are better
Bike: Yeti SB-95 & B-66Brakes: XT 203 & 180 mm discsRider weight 170lbsThese don't grip nearly as hard as the metals, maybe good for a few but I use them on 203mm and 180mms and like the fact that metals grab had when needing breaks. Noise is virtually non-existent with these but who cares about noise if you can't stop.

Good pads but wear too fast!

Don't get WD-40 on your brake pads...
I was cleaning my bike and accidentally got some WD-40 on my brake pads, which is a no-no. They lost a considerable amount of braking power and were squealing terribly at low speeds. There are a lot of methods for trying to restore functionality in this situation but good chance you will waste your time sanding, using acetone, etc, and it's usually just the best idea to replace the pads. Got these and switched them out, now no more worries. I have them installed on Shimano SLX brakes and they work great.

Came in a ziplock and can barely brake on a decend.
