## Description

Morakniv Allround Multi-Purpose knife is a sharp, durable utility knife suitable for a variety of uses from construction and trade to hunting and outdoor use. Mora stainless steel options are ideally suited for marine, fishing, outdoor and construction applications, where off-grid knives see hard use and are commonly exposed to dirt and moisture. The chromium content of stainless steel makes them less susceptible to corrosion and oxidation than carbon steels, giving them a longer life overall. Mora Knives are made from high-quality Sandvik steel. Sandvik knife steels are characterized by ultra-fine carbides that result in superb forging and hardening properties. The absence of large carbide deposits promotes excellent edge sharpness for optimum cutting performance. Morakniv has been manufacturing the highest-quality off-grid knives in Mora, Sweden since 1891.

Review: Not quite as thick as described. - I own several Moras and each in its own way is an excellent knife and all are exceptional values. I can say the same for this model. However, the original description is not accurate. It was said that the thickness of the blade is 2.5 mm--it is not--it is about 2 mm. That's not a bad thing necessarily, but if you are expecting a medium to heavy-duty outdoorsy, bushcrafty kind of knife you might be disappointed. This is more suited, in my opinion, to kitchen-type chores. Still it is a fine product, with a rather large, very comfortable, high-friction handle, nicely ground and polished blade, (quite sharp) and the usual plastic sheath (tho this sheath has a leather belt loop riveted to it). For what I might do with it, it's great. Just don't expect the 2.5 mm thickness and you can't go wrong with this Mora. After owning this item for awhile now, I want to update my opinion of it and its little sister (Model 748, 5 3/4"). The 749 is simply an elegant, beautiful knife, with its bowie-like blade and wonderfully ergonomic handle. The 748 is a more usual clip blade, but same beauty and handle. I don't know much about high-end kitchen knives, but I would bet that they cost a lot more than these Moras and likely would not have the quality of construction. At 20-some dollars apiece, they can't be beat.
Review: It’s NOT A MACHETE!!! - No, it’s not a battle ready blade you would go fight off Longshanks’ men at arms with. Nor is it for cutting trails through youpons, it won’t successfully do it. However, there is nothing weak or wrong with this knife; the problem is too many people have been watching Survivor Man, or what-have-you and trying to use knives for something they’re not designed to do. A knife is for cutting, particularly one with a fine edge like this one. It blows my mind to see guys saying such as “oh but it was destroyed after only hacking through two 1.5” thick branches...” NO JOKE BRO.! That is not what a sabre ground edge is for. It’s not what a knife is for, period. If you want a machete, go to a surplus store and spend the whole 12 bucks on a cheap machete. I live the deep south of the US, I’ve been in the woods hunting, fishing and camping since I could walk. The first things every kid in the country learns about proper use of a knife is that you don’t cut paper with them and you don’t hack with them. It’s not a saw, not an axe, it’s a knife. Use it as such, and this inexpensive, but well made gem can last a lifetime. And knock it off with the “paper test” and learn how to actually gauge sharpness!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great as an all-around kitchen knife; outstanding value
*by M***E on December 28, 2018*

Though this 8.1 inch knife is advertised as an outdoor knife, it makes an excellent indoor kitchen knife. It comes extremely sharp and effortlessly cuts through meat and vegetables, making a joy out of what I consider normally a pretty mundane task. The knife is thick enough to be sturdy, thin enough to make easy cuts, and long enough to slice through a whole ham or pot roast. The clip point seems more at home in an outdoor or fighting knife, but enables the knife to make precision cuts, such as when removing small pieces of fat from meat. I bought this knife as a gift for my dad, who does commercial-grade BBQ, along with a 5.8 inch and 3.6 Mora knife. The idea was that he could use the big 8.1 inch for slicing through briskets and rib racks, and the other two for smaller work like trimming fat, but he prefers this one above both the others because he is still able to do precision work with it. He now uses the 8.1 inch knife almost exclusively over all his other knives. At a current Amazon price of around $27, this is an absolute steal for a razor-sharp, European-made knife. A chef's knife of equivalent quality and utility will cost you at least $100. I promise you will not regret buying this knife!
