So far, so good...
While researching laser hair removers, I came across many doubtful and accusatory comments about the validity of the LumaRx reviews. I don't work for the company or know anyone that does, I didn't receive this product at a discounted rate for any reason, I am not a beauty blogger, I am not comparing or testing products for an article or advertisement, and I have nothing to gain from my review. I am just a regular, ordinary Amazon shopper.I highly recommend letting the hair grow out for a few weeks and taking a "before" picture of the areas you're wanting to treat. Being able to look back at mine has helped a lot.Read the booklet. There are negative comments on here about things that were addressed in the booklet and talked about in the product in for ation on this page. Clearly, these people didn't read the in for nation listed here, do any research, or read the booklet. And everyone needs to remember that individual results will vary greatly bc of all the different variables involved. Don't dismiss a product bc you don't see the same results as quickly as someone else.My husband and I are both using the LumaRX. We have different complexions, hair color, and needs. We are both using it on level 5 and it doesn't hurt. The people that said it hurt too much even on level 1 must be in agony when a soft breeze blows by. I won't go too much into how it feels bc that is completely subjective and depends on where you're using it. You know yourself. If you can't tolerate any amount of pain, it won't be comfortable to use. If you are normal to tolerant on the pain scale, you'll be fine- find the laser strength that works for you on a scale of 1-5Him: he is of Austrian descent and has an olive complexion (naturally tan, but not dark) with brown, course hair. He doesn't have a lot of hair to get rid of, just the occasional stray hair growing on his shoulders and back and he is lasering the hair on his stomach (happy trail). I have zapped his shoulders/back for him twice and have already seen an 80% improvement. It's working fantastically on him. Sadly, I didn't take before pictures bc I didn't think it would be so dramatic, but his side usage has turned out to be the star of the show. His stomach, where the hair folicles are more dense, is less drastic and he hasn't seen much change there, but he just used the LumaRx for the 3rd time on it last night, so this area is still a work in progress.Me: I'm of Scandinavian descent and I have a graveyard tan (I'm pale). My hair is light brown, but has a lot of blonde and red in it. The individual hairs on my hair are thin, but I have a lot of them. The amount of body hair that I have is comparatively on the lighter, thinner side and each area is a different color. I'm complicated, I know. However, I'm hoping the different colors and amounts will give people a better understanding of whether the laser will work for them. I may have less hair on my body and the hairs may be thin, but it is stubborn and seems to be constantly growing. If I wax my lip, I get 2 days of smooth, then I have full on new growth. Same with my legs and bikini area. I gave up on waxing and epilating bc it never lasted more than a couple days and tripled my already too many ingrown hairs. My bikini area: the amount of hair I have here is smaller than most women and not as thick- think pubescent girl. It's a mix of blonde and golden brown with a few dark brown hairs mixed in. Ingrown hairs are a constant here for me. I tried professional laser hair removal in my early twenties and the lady was up front and said it might not work well for me bc my hair was lighter back then. I did the 6 treatments and she was right. There was minimal change. Well, I'm 35 now and the hair has darkened up a little over the years, so I'm trying again. The directions say to do it every 2 weeks, but I've been doing it every week to account for the stubbornness- I have no idea if this will effect the outcome whatsoever, but I haven't experienced any negative side effects, so I'm going with it. After 4 treatments, the top and side hairlines and the few stray hairs on my thighs where the folicles are less dense are showing progress. I can also see some thinning in the center of the mound area. Where the folicles are more dense and I have thicker growth, the lips, I'm not seeing much change yet. I'm sure it will lessen in time, but it will take a while.Underarms: my underarm hair is brown with a few blonde hairs mixed in. It's not dark, per se, but it's probably the darkest hair on my body. The amount of hair I have here is less than average. I have been lasering these every 1 to 2 weeks and I've done 4 treatments. I have seen about a 50% improvement. It also seems like the growth has slowed down. I shaved them on Sunday. It's Friday and I barely have stubble, so something is working here.Face: these hairs are white and white blonde (as opposed to a yellow blonde like my arm hairs). The LumaRx says it isn't great for these hairs, but I'm doing it anyway. It doesn't hurt to try. I had a hysterectomy when I was 29 and slowly but surely, thicker hairs started coming in above my lip and out of a couple freckles on my cheek and under my chin. I never had to wax my lip or face before, but I started growing more and more white grandma hairs. Not having it. I've been zapping my lip and all over my cheeks, chin, and neck every week for the past month or so. I haven't seen any difference on my cheeks and chin, but there is a small difference above my lip. Again, it's one of those areas where the folicles are more dense, and they're also light, so it may be a while before I see any significant change. I'll keep zapping away at them and we'll see how it goes.Legs: here we go. I hate my legs. My skin is thin due to a collagen disorder. I get a lot of ingrown hairs and you can see the pores- they look like I dotted them up like comic book ink after I shave. The hair on the inside of my calves is blonde with a few brown and golden brown hairs mixed in and the outside is the opposite- brown and golden brown hairs with a few blonde ones mixed in. The front of my knees and my thighs are white blonde. The backs of my knees have about 20 straggley, random dark hairs and nothing else. I have no idea what's going on there, but it is. I waxed my legs on the standard schedule for about 2 years hoping to see less growth therefore less ingrown hairs. It thinned out, but the wax didn't get the blonde hairs and I had to keep shaving anyway. I didn't see enough change to warrant the expense any longer. A couple years after I stopped waxing, all the hair grew back and my legs were back to their original state. Drats. This is why I say I have stubborn hair. It doesn't want to die, but it doesn't want to come out of my skin either so I end up with scabs and bumps! Very frustrating. I keep my legs covered in public bc of this. Each individual strand of my leg hair is thin, but I have an average amount of it here. If I don't shave, it feels like the hair on a child's leg. It's soft, but you can feel it. I'm zapping these every 2 weeks so I can grow the hair out in between bc it's easier to see if there's a difference. There is about 30- 40% less hair overall after 3 treatments. To my surprise, I'm seeing less of the blonde hairs! And just like my husband's random back hairs, the straggley, dark hairs behind my knees are gone. There are some good patches of improvement here and there all over my legs, so like my previous assessments, I think with continued use over time, I will get to where I just have to do touch ups. It may be a while before that happens, but I think it will. It's difficult to tell exactly how much the growth has changed without growing the hair out for a month like in my Before photos, but I will and post the pictures after I do more treatments. Conclusion thus far: The difference in all of the hair colors is about the same for me except on my face. Not much difference there, but the hair is white blonde. Since my skin is pale, I expected to see more of a difference in the areas where my hair is darker (underarms, legs, and bikini area). I haven't and it's slightly disappointing, but I know my hair is stubborn and I will keep using it. So while the decrease I've seen is definitely not "significant and you'll just need touch-ups" just yet, I'm seeing less growth. It seems to work best in areas where there is darker hair and not a lot of it. Be prepared to wait if you have a lot of hair bc it may take a while before you see a change. Just keep at it.

I was skeptical but there were so many amazing reviews. I have had professional laser hair removal ...
I ordered the LumaRx last February, which goes to show you how much faith I had in the product. It is the most expensive beauty tool/device I have ever purchased. I was skeptical but there were so many amazing reviews. I have had professional laser hair removal for my bikini area and underarms. Both treatment series lasted years (like 8 yrs.) and I have only had to touch up 2-3 times (one treatment each time) over that those years. I have also had professional laser series done on my upper lip area but that grows back faster and doesn't really hold 100% because of hormones etc. But it was still worth it. I am a dark brunette. I have a lot of medium-dark hair on my legs, arms, bikini, lip and underarms. I assumed the LumaRx wouldn't be perfect but I thought that hair devices had come a long way and that I would just need to follow the instructions diligently and it would probably take me more treatments than suggested. I thought it was worth the $500 investment if I could my arm and leg hair even 75%. I love not having to shave my underarms every day! I NEVER shave there anymore. So, I added a LumaRx treatment schedule to my Outlook calendar and filled out every treatment card correctly. I followed the instructions exactly. I started the power level at low-to-medium and after 4 weeks went to the maximum power level. I could and can still feel a zap on my skin and tingling with every red flash. After 8 weeks I started to notice it was a littler easier to shave my legs but my arms were the same. So I continued to treat both areas. After about seven months I gave up and put the box and device in the closet. I knew it wasn’t working but it was too expensive for me to throw away. About three months ago I started up the treatments again, just to see if maybe it would do something as long as there was still “juice” or flashes left. Again, after a few weeks the hair would lessen slightly, but I still had to shave my legs several times a week and my arm hair hardly lessened. I don’t leave a lot of product reviews but I am finally tossing this device and for those that said it was fantastic, I am happy for you. But it was not only a waste of my money, but I am sad and frustrated I spend so much time trying and thinking it would work. It takes a lot of time to treat one arm or leg, never mind both legs/arms, plus keep to a schedule, have your areas prepped, and the privacy to sit down and do the treatments. Thumbs down all the way. Waste of time, money, and hope. Since I have dark hair it should have worked great or at least 75%. I guess its back to professionals. In a series of 6 treatments with a professional hair removal laser I will be good to go. Just not with the LumaRx!! Buyer beware. Super sad. Finally letting go.

OMG IT Actually WORKS!!
I have been using this item to remove unwanted facial hair. OMG after 2 weeks (using it every other day) my facial hair is GONE. I tried other units in the past and ended up returning them because they hurt like hell and were useless.I started the LumaRx on level one and slowly moved it up to a level 4 (over a two week period. It did the job (without pain) and I am so happy with the results. I wake up each morning expecting the hair to return but it has not (it has been gone for over a month).FYI: Other brands do not have the ability to obtain replacement cartridges. Once you are done with one of those kind you have to throw it away. This manufacturer sells replacement cartridges.

It’s not permanent hair removal like they claim.
I have used this thing over 20 times and permanent hair removal definitely isn’t happening. How they can claim you get permanent hair removal after three treatments is beyond me. I have very light skin with dark hair, you can see the follicles after I shave, so literally perfect candidate for this, and it’s not happening. The hair growth has slowed, but not in any effective way. It just sits right at the surface of my skin, so it’s not growing quickly, but very visible, VERY VISIBLE. I used the product completely as specified, then did the two zaps per spot, then did once a week for six weeks, then did twice a week for six weeks. With their claim, I should be hairless, and that’s definitely not the case. Oh, and did I mention how tedious and time consuming it is? You can get full body professional permanent laser hair removal for $1,800.00 now. With the money I spent on this, combined with the literal dozens of hours, I would have rather gotten real laser removal. And again, people keep saying this is laser hair removal, it’s not, it’s IPL. There’s a difference.
