So great in fact, that I'm ordering another of the exact same one today. Very easy to assemble and install. Mine arrived without any kind of instructions, however it was so simple that instructions really werent needed. I've had to wash out the filter pads several times already (which means it's doing exactly what it's meant to do!) My 50 gallon outdoor pond was awful with algae and bottom sludge, which I've also been adding products to treat the problem. But this filter works hard, does it's job, and the filter pads simply have to be cleaned out once they are heavily used. Now I can actually see my fish again! I've only had this a little while, so I can't tell you about durability yet. But it's already been well worth the small price I paid for it. Like others mentioned, I did have to weight it down with a rock, not a big deal at all. Will the fountain head rise above the water level? Is it tall enough for my pond?** A: I would recommend against buying this product. After the third one failed I just ate it and stopped asking Amazon for replacements. The impeller lasts for about 2 to 3 weeks and then fails. We had to put it on some rocks to get it up high enough above the water but our pond is about 28 inches deep so I can't say for sure that it will rise above 20 inches. **Q: Is this item solar powered and does it come with the panel or is it sold separately?** A: Mine is 120volt. If the pump is DC, perhaps solar could work. **Q: Is the complete filter set like are all the parts here? If not what else must i get for my outdoor pond** A: Your question is not real clear to me. The pond master filter will do the filtering job for a pond of 250-300 gallons. If there is a lot of sunlight on the pond you Will still have an algae problem. A ultraviolet filter not chemicals is the solution for algae. **Q: how difficult/often change filters??** A: Very easy to change filters and they seem to last a while, still on my first set months later. The filter pads are easy to clean and it's helpful that the unit comes with a handle to make it easy to lift out of the pond. The pump has been running non-stop all summer with no issues. My only complaint is the fountain part of the unit - although the "mushroom" fountain worked great at first, after a few hours, the water came out in an uneven, distorted shape. I tried raising and lowering the insert piece, but it always seemed to clog back up after a few hours. I bought another set of "standard" fountain heads on Amazon with several converter pieces, but they still didn't fit on the unit properly. This could probably be fixed with some epoxy, but I'd be afraid that would make it difficult to clean.
