Decent Quality Bike - Starts 1st Kick Everytime - Shift Pattern Not Correct
I bought two of these bikes for my 6 year old twin boys. They've been riding bicycles for quite sometime but I wanted to get them started on dirt bikes and motorcycles in hopes that they'd also want to try motocross racing once they get older. These Coolster bikes start up every time with one or two kicks without issue. I have an Apollo 250cc and it's way harder to start. They warm up and idle right away. The bikes support my weight as an adult at 180 lbs and I've even ridden on the back of the bikes with the twins before they started solo'ing on them by themselves. The only downfall is the shift pattern. I wanted them to learn to shift but instead of 1 down 3 up (they are 4 speed bikes) they are 4 down meaning first gear is all the way up and 4th gear is all the way down (4 clicks down gets you to 4th). I think this isn't a good way to get the boys to learn because as soon as they graduate to a brand name bike, they are going to have to learn to shift the correct way all over again. I'm can't give a 5 star review of the bike because of this but the bikes really are reliable and start every time. They come with decent knobby tires, decent shifter and brake levers and comfortable seats. I'd buy them again if I had to. If you want to see them in action, Please find our page on YouTube called Twin Kids TV to see the boys riding them. Other than that thanks for reading! 2 thumbs up for the Coolster 70cc dirt bikes!

Starts in first kick most times.
I bought this bike for my 8 year old daughter. It’s her first dirt bike. She took to it immediately. The bike is basic - no frills - as you would expect for the price. Drum brakes take time to bed-in as you would expect. As others report - this thing starts on the first kick most times. Never more than three kicks. It’s a great learner bike but after only a few rides my daughter is ready for a taller bike with bigger tires/wheels because we desert ride and the smaller tires/wheels don’t fare well in deep sand or gravel. On the other hand once she gets her speed up she probably won’t get stuck as much.Lastly - this thing has a 24 inch seat height so when she does fall over it’s not a big deal because she’s already so low to the ground.I’d buy this again in a heartbeat. Great learner bike.
