Good power head
Worked great. Died today 1 month short of 2 years. Very powerful almost to much for my 75 gal on the low setting. Would buy again.

Stirred the tank up like mad first few minutes
Using one on a 55g and holy jebus!! Stirred the tank up like mad first few minutes. Now, I want to get another one. In w1 a single unit makes about 1" wave maybe a bit more maybe bit less . More than I was expecting. Only bad things, I can say are the length of the controller cable. And the day/night sensor, in my case was to sensitive so can't use night mode cause the controllers would never wake up no matter where mounted unless I held them to the light and then even shadows from walking by would put the unit back into night mode.Have read quite a few people "can't" run them in else mode or all hell breaks loose or even w1, just lowest setting. On tanks up to 125g so I'm guessing they are saying the flow is to much for a 4ft tank. I call BS I run mine full-power day and night in else mode or w1. Yes, the sand bed moves, that happens. But, doesn't cause a sandstorm and seeing low and high spots in my deep sand bed looks natural to me. And after I get a second unit I'll probably switch to wave mode full time. And these high and low spots will help in rearranging rock work. Have one dead spot now right below the unit, but also have some rocks stacked funny below it. Need to move those. And the power heads are totally silent. They do collect detritus so make sure and blow them off daily.Have also, read that units have trouble syncing, will update review, after running 2 units for a bit.

Bought 4 over last 3 years 3 of 4 develop shorts in powerhead
I use to love these things but for last few years with both th PP-8 and PW-8 you get water intrusions inside the power head itself. I cant recomend these power heads with a failure rate withing a few months.

Strong Flow!
These powerheads are VERY powerful! I bought two for my 75 gallon tank and installed them at opposite ends of the tank facing one another. I started at 50% speed and power with the various modes. It is way too much flow for my LPS and fine sand bed. I had hoped to use the ELSE mode (random) but it's too powerful even at the lowest setting. The Wave1 seems to be the gentlest setting, my point being you will need to spend time adjusting these pumps for your tank.I was told that these pumps run virtually silent. Not true. They make a distinct whirring noise while adjusting speed and intensity and I was surprised how noticeable they are. This is my biggest objection to the product. I bought these to replace two 1500 Koralia powerheads because of their constant clicking while in use with their wavemaker...while these don't click or clatter, they whir. :-/They are a nice small size with strong magnets. I intend to top off my substrate with heavier sand to stop the shifting problem. I like this system. The master/slave function is very handy so you only need to tinker with one controller. I don't use night mode so cannot comment. Overall, a good product and I would purchase again although perhaps the rw 4 model would have been enough for my tank.

Works great in my 65 gallon!
Really nice wavemaker for the money. I've had it for over a month in a 65 gallon reef aquarium (36"W, 24"T, 18" front to back) and plan to buy another to try the sync function. Powerful yes, but if set up correctly it can actually create a nice, back and forth "surge" effect without blowing corals away in tanks around this size and larger. Corals in my aquarium that move from this include a basket ball-sized elegance coral, frog spawn, devils hand, and star polyps. The trick with this pump (in a tank like the 65 gallon) is to create indirect flow, rather than pointing it across the aquarium. This is my set up:-Pump on side glass, centered between front & back about an inch below water surface. Pump is pointed towards center of front glass.-Controlled is set to W1. Speed at 1. Power around 25% (dial around 3 o' clock). Some experimenting may be needed, (but by "bouncing" the flow of the pump off the front glass) this really gives a nice "surge" to the corals and they all move in unison.Mine has a very minor "knock" sound from the pump turning on and off in the W1 setting, but it can't be heard over the sound of the sump unless you're within a few feet of the pump, Not even an issue to me.All in all a really nice pump. Easy to setup and use with some other useful functions and settings. The feed function is great and works for other things too.

since W1 in the second-lowest speed provides a nice pulse. I could see myself working my way ...
Just received it. I tested one RW-8 on the end of my 48" 55 gallon mixed reef. Been in the hobby about ten years.Much nicer build quality and mount than the Jebao WP series. Flow is very wide, and the pump is silent.Controllability is on par with the WP twin controllers.HOWEVER, the lowest speed is not the same in all modes. In W1, the lowest speed is around 300GPH (by feel). In Else, the lowest speed is around 200GPH.In W2, H, and C, the lowest speed is around to 600 GPH, perhaps closer to 900 GPH.Not too big of a problem, since W1 in the second-lowest speed provides a nice pulse. I could see myself working my way up to 60-70% power in W1 over time. The big issue here is that night mode (which is a big reason I bought the RW8) switches the pump to H on the lowest speed when the lights go out.H at the lowest speed moves about three times more water that the pulsing in W1, which means *more* current at night. So if you have anything smaller than say a 90, or perhaps a ~60 SPS only, I'd go with a pair of RW4 for just a bit more money.

These only last about a year or two then stop working. I have about 8 now that are junk.
Good price for the functions but don't last.
