It sucks! I have 3 different bread knives, one of them is actually from a bread company so I know it's right. But not ONE of them is long enough to stay between the guide slats while you cut the bread. When I pull back on the knife to do another slice the knife comes out of the far side guide and the slice is then very difficult to do. I should video the problem, maybe I will eventually. But for now it's relegated to the floor under my desk. I'm going to try and return it. But it may have been too long, I wanted to give it a fair shake...so I may have waited too long. Oh, I gave it 3 stars only because it is beautiful, well made, compactable for easy storage, and I just love the idea of it being bamboo. But without all that it would be a 1 or less stars. Oh well, live and learn. The knife slots are wide enough that it takes a bit of practice to use though. Having a longer bread knife is a must. Once you use it for several loafs the results will be more consistent. The bamboo is very hard and works very well for this product.
