A10 7870K on FM2A88X-ITX+ with CM Hyper TX3
This CPU runs cool and runs great, as fast as my i3 4370 and cheaper and with way better integrated graphics. I didn't buy it for gaming so I can't comment on that but on normal use browsing and multitasking I doubt that you'd feel any difference plus the MOBO's are cheaper. I use it as an entertainment PC connected to my flat screen and Home Theater to watch HD Movies (8 GB-17 GB file size), NetFlix, etc.The Stock cooler is noisy with high pitch frequency which bothers me. In my gaming rig I have a Phanteks Cooler (Twin Tower Premium Edition) and in another gaming rig I have a Noctua; I gave the stock cooler a chance but I couldn't stand it. Since I'm using the Asrock FM2A88X-ITX+ the aftermarket cooler options are way limited because there is no backplate in the MOBO due to the fact that some chips place on the back would interfere with it. So I went for the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 with dual fan setup and I don't regret it. The fan curve the way I set it I have the Fans running at 1200 RPM and the temps in AIDA 64 stress test never reached 40 °C (see screenshot) also the Ram Memory Clearance is awesome with this cooler also, the stock cooler actually managed to leave a small scratch in the module closest to the cooler. Just FYI don't use 3-pin fan with the FM2A88X-ITX+ the only 2 fan headers are actually PWM, so if you use 3-pin it will run at full speed, I had to exchange my exhaust fan for a Noctua 14 PWM and it made a tremendous difference by setting it's speed at 800 RPM.It's my first AMD CPU in almost 12 years and I didn't disappoint an aftermarket cooler is always recommended if you MOBO supports it and the case fits it (I am currenlty using the Aerocool DS-COOL, best mATX and mini ITX case) go for the Hyper 212 EVO it would be even quieter than my Hyper TX3.UPDATE 12/23/2015: So in the past few days I have learned that with AMD Processors one needs to use AMD OverDrive get better readings, We can rely on the MOBO's software for idle temps but for load temps when need to use AMD's Thermal Capacity, now with this new information I can say the following: Idle Thermal Capacity with the TX3 is 70 C and on the most heat-producing test of Prime95 is 40 C.Hope this review helps others.

The new A10 7870K is much faster than my old APU by far! LOVE IT!
I replaced my A5800k APU with this new processor on my Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-UP4 which wasrunning the OEM release of Win 2010 Pro 64 bit.Updating the bios to the necessary f7 version for the new A10 7870K unit I made a bootable USB drive using Rufus 2.2.668 and added a second directory containing the bios and utility to update it. This is neccesary because both Win 7 and 2010 operate in protected mode and won't allow the update from a normal or safe mode boot. The preparation took considerable time but the results are well worth the cost. Before I booted the system back into Win 2010 I cleared the cmos and booted to the bios setup and adjusted the settings for the Samsung 250 EVO SSD, 32 Gigs Corsair 1866 DDR3 Vengeance Ram and etc. I have been working with this for a few days now and found the unit runs pretty stable @ 2.3 VVC and is about 26 C under load. Cooling is via Coursair H105 push - pull water cooler mounted in the top of a Corsaire AIR540 blowing down. The power supply is a Corsair 850 Watt Unit. I have never been let down by Corsair! I am presently slightly over clocked and the speed of this new setup is amazing. This chip just is so much faster than the old one and I am still just learning new ways of doing things. I have been using Win7 for years now and really have no need nor patience to learn the Metro touch and tile system and have opted to install the free Start 8 Program from IObit Software. It actually is faster than the standard Win2010 interface. Like I said I am still getting this all tweaked but will update you all later. I do like this new processor and would recommend it to others looking to build a machine for light gaming but more important for me is that we operate a web design, graphics and hosting company on our dedicated www server in Chicago. Reliability is key to our success and while my old chip worked this one just screams in comparison. That You Amazon for your early Prime Delivery and support.

It's a good heat
Honestly, this runs a little hotter than I expected, but I cut a little sheet metal, made another case fan bracket, and turned it loose...and boy can this thing RUN! I'm not even sure how much O.C. I can get out of it before I feel guilty that I might hurt it! But at AMD price points it's no wonder they are a builder's dream. I ran an easy 4.6Ghz with just air, I couldn't even do that with the 7890K build I did last month. These are dream machines for video editing (I had 32Gb ram in this one), and it still games fine (but that's 90% video card/Mobo, cpu has VERY little to do with games). But I dropped 7.6Gb of video into Sony Vegas and it rendered almost instantly and seamlessly, no hesitation even adding audio, tons of transitions. If you can't stand the heat, ...well, LEARN to fix it! Very good cpu, DEFINATELY better than trying to pick the right Xeon for the job!

A little disappointed. Works well with older games but has a very low frame rate with new games. Paired with Asus A88x Plus MoBo, 8 gigs 2133 Mhz Kingston Hyper X Ram kit. If you play the less graphics intensive games it is a fine Chip. Looking forward to what comes in the future with APUs. Tried to pair R7 250. I didn't get any improvement in FPS or enough improvement to justify adding the video card. I'm by no means an expert. May not have set it up properly.
