Not as effective as Head and Shoulders, but also less damaging to hair
UPDATED REVIEW:I've been using this shampoo for a few weeks now, and as winter is creeping in, I'm getting the dreaded dandruff again. In the past, the only shampoo that has been able to keep it away has been Head and Shoulders, but I read a positive review of this shampoo, so I decided to give it a try. It's fine. My head is certainly better than when I use regular shampoo, but there's definitely still dandruff, both when I scratch my head and in general. It's a trade off. Most dandruff shampoos are essentially laundry detergent that you pour on your hair. This one smells great and leaves the rest of my hair healthy and shiny (just not my scalp). I might experiment alternating between this one and Head and Shoulders, but just be warned that this shampoo is probably not going to be the sulfate-free amazingly functional dandruff shampoo of your dreams (or at least, it wasn't for me).(also, the cap arrived broken, which was a real pain).

Gentle but effective
I have extremely thick, wavy Jewish girl hair, currently bleached and dyed pink. Normally I don't use shampoo at all (just conditioner) because I'm prone to eczema on my scalp, and I find it too drying. I tend to get dandruff for a few weeks when the seasons change. I have used Shea moisture skin products in the past but never the hair care line. This shampoo is somewhat runny but lathers well. It's pretty much impossible to get rainbow hair wet without it running, but I did notice less color loss with this shampoo than with other dandruff shampoos I've tried. After the first wash, my scalp already felt better-- not itchy or tender. I could tell as soon as I rinsed that I would still need conditioner, so I wouldn't necessarily call this shampoo moisturizing. My hair air-dried straighter and feels smoother than usual. I still have a few flakes, but I'm sure they'll be gone after another wash or two. I have not blow dried or used hot tools since trying this shampoo, so not sure if I would need to change my product routine.

I really love this product
I really love this product. I was surprised at how great it smelled and how wonderful it made my hair feel. It is not like your average dandruff shampoo that smells medicinal. This product is the real deal.Update (April, 2021): This shampoo still serves my purpose but I’m sorry to see that the formula has changed since I first bought it. Now it is more “watery” making me have to use more per shampoo; it looks different ( separates in the bottle with light brown “curds” on the bottom and deep brown liquid on the top). I guess Covid affected it too. Pity.

One of my new favorite shampoos by shea moisture
One of my new favorite shampoos by shea moisture. I have thin hair and dermatitis. I'm allergic to most dandruff shampoos but this one has no harsh sulfates that irritate me. Doesn't cause flaking or hair loss like most shampoos do. This and the anti breakage with yucca and plantain are my favorite shampoos by this company. Highly recommend for thin hair and dry scalp. Does not grease as much as the anti breakage and better for consistent washes. I usually wash my hair 3 times a week more or less. So this is better for me to use 2/3 times and the other time with more moisture from the plantain yucca anti breakage. All in all this shampoo lathers well smells nice and spreads evenly. Good hair days are on the way.

Was great the first time, but then built up and left my scalp raw and hair heavy
I have a scalp that gets very dry when overwashed, then becomes oily, and my scalp easily gets irritated and itchy. I'm always looking for a shampoo that keeps my hair clean for a day or two, but does not overdry it. I have been using Maple Holistics argan oil shampoo, which worked well but that brand's tea tree shampoo left my hair way oily, so I decided to try something new for my itchy scalp. Since I love Shea Moisture's African black soap bar soap, I thought I'd try this shampoo. The first time I used it, it was amazing. I did have to use a little extra to make it suds up, but I wanted to rush and write a 5 star review. My scalp didn't itch a bit for 3 entire days, and my hair was just beginning to get oily on the 3rd day. But now that I've used it four or five times alternating with my same old shampoo, and now it feels heavy and built up and my scalp is increasingly irritated. Today, after just showering this morning, my scalp has been horribly irritated all day and now it's beginning to burn from where I scratched it too much.

Not for dandruff
Smells great and my hair was clean but I’m not sure it ever helped with my mild dandruff. I love Shea moisture products but obviously not every product is going to wow everyone. It lasted a long time and it did what a normal shampoo would do and now I’ll stick to their conditioner and body wash.

Excellent product!
Shampoo is great, very effective. Leaves my Caucasian hair very soft and shiny. I needed something that treats dry scalp with no sulfate for colored hair. I used it on my 6 year old's biracial hair (4b/c), and felt like it left her hair a very fluffy texture, so I don't use it on her. I gave it 4 stars because the smell is not bad, but it does smell more like a man's cologne.

Shea Moisture Dandruff Shampoo
This product has a good scent and the package is a good size. It was my hair really good, but I feel it didn't take away my dandruff. The reason is because I have thick curly hair. I feel it is best fit for thinner hair. Overall, its a great product to use.

Does Nothing For Dandruff
I'm struggling with my conscience over the star rating for this product. The shampoo is lovely and leaves my hair looking shiny and clean, so as a basic shampoo, it's great. It has a gentle fragrance which is pleasant and not overpowering. The one big problem I have with this, is that I bought it specifically for getting rid of my dandruff, which it hasn't. There is literally no difference at all. I've now been using it long enough to have gone through approximately a 3rd of a bottle and my dandruff is exactly the same - just as bad as it was before. As a shampoo, I'd give this 5 stars, but as a dandruff control shampoo, I'd give this zero! I feel guilty about dragging the score down, but it just didn't work at all for its intended purpose at all, so I feel it would be misleading to give it anything higher.

Watered down
It was obviously watered down, but I was desperate so I used in anyway. The smell was awful, and I can't say it did much for my dandruff (maybe it helped a little, I'm not sure).Note that this review is not for the "original" product, but for the one that was sent to me.
