Many problems that can be fixed. [Edited] but not all
Edited: I ordered and replaced the laser tube because the original one was defective. I didn't realize it was defective until I compared it to another cutter like it. The cutting power was much lower. The new tube has a blue color the old tube had an orange glow. I now believe that it had a gas leak. The new tube works much better. The company did not respond to my message so make sure your tube has a good color when you receive it.Original comment:Each of these K40 laser cutters have their own unique feature and problem. First the good stuff. It works on a Linux computer with open source K40-Wisperer software. Drawings are done using Inkscape. I was able to get it aligned almost perfectly but it took some work. This uses optical sensors to find home position. My friend's K40 uses micro switches. The rails are better on mine. This tool is like the VW bug from the '60s. What ever you do to it improves it. Even though I had many problems I still gave it 4 stars. The vent fan too weak. Installed an in duct fan.Bed standoff post not mounted properly because holes were in the wrong place. Redrilled holes.Bed is not as functional as it could be. Replaced bed.Standoffs for bed loose. Used the bed which it came with for the base and added stronger screws for support.Y axis not parallel to side rail. Removed table assemble and aligned.Leak around vent. Duct taped.X axis arm not at right angle to Y carriage. Shimmed the X axis arm using aluminum foil. Estimate 0.008 ".Laser hits high on the #2 mirror. Corrected by adding washers under laser head mount. No air assist. Ordered a 3rd party air assist.Laser hitting 3rd party air assist. This was corrected when washers were added to head mount. No red laser alignment. I have ordered red laser line diodes.Edited Changed from 4 stars to 1 starI had a problem that couldn't get fixed. I have a friend with another K40 cutter and a friend who purchased one since I purchased mine. I asked what he used for settings and he said something much less than mine. He had mothball his so I didn't try it myself. My other friend purchase one with all kinds of problems. When we got everything fixed I compared mine against his. Mine took 3 times as long to cut then his. I made a make shift power meter and it showed my laser tube was putting out much less power then his. The company does not respond to my messages. I do like my design better than the others but that does not fix my problem. I would not purchase from this company.

Some setup, but overall GREAT Value.
This machine / package is a great value! Takes a little time to set up, however works like a dream after. EXHAUST fan is too big for exhaust, but can be corrected by duct taping half of the fan intake off, and applying some weather seal /foam around it to ensure there are no leaks. Had to align mirrors as the laser was way off. Software is perfect for anyone who isn't a professional, and desires to learn. Water cooling tube extensions were needed to reach the 5 gal bucket of water I use for cooling. I used the silicone sealant they supply to ensure the seems of the water pump were water tight (I'd rather not die) and ensured that the unit case was grounded well before even turning the machine on. Manufacturer states grounding is necessary for operation. Most US household outlets are grounded. Make sure that you ground the ACTUAL CASE ASIDE FROM BUILT IN GROUND FROM OUTLET for safety sake. Especially since water and electricity are mixed here (aside from the fact it came from CHINA.) It will most likely cost you 10 bucks at Lowe's for some solid core copper ground wire. Invest in it... it could save your life. Lot of youtube videos show people using this without grounding first which is risky business if you ask me. As you click add to cart, think of where you will put the machine- as it need to be vented OUTSIDE. This will prevent you from inhaling potentially toxic fumes, and instead pump them to the neighbors next door. Just kidding, they dissipate quickly once outdoors. Exhaust motor/ fan will do for awhile, but you will want something more forceful in the future. Instructions are in Chinese. Wah wah wah. Get over it. I finished my basement by viewing youtube tutorials. I set this machine up the same way... youtube...freaking... tutorials. Buy this. You'll love it. I hear they are hit or miss. If you get a miss, smile and remember that Amazon will take care of you if seller won't. That's one of the reasons you shop it so often right?RIGHT.P.s. keep your hands out of the machine unless power main is off, machine is unplugged, or laser switch is in the off position. You don't have to... but I value my fingers/hands too much to lose them. This choice is up to you.

Make sure you know what you're getting into, it is not plug and play, check machine for accuracy!
This review is for the 40W laser cutter.Pros: The price is hard to beat, if you're handy.Cons:- Probably difficult to setup for your average consumer.- Aligning the laser, mirrors, etc is time-consuming and tedious- Software installation instructions are manageable but poor. Software is clearly a translation from a foreign product, so English version may not be intuitive for native English speakersDeal-breaker:The Xaxis support beam was not cut perpendicular to the Yaxis! The Axes were off by 2 degrees. (should be mounted 90 degrees, was actually 88 degrees) This meant that everything I tried to cut/engrave was skewed. Luckily, I work in a machine shop and was able to disassemble the machine, take the support bar and square it off in a mill. (see picture for affected area) For most people, this would have been a deal-breaker.I still gave this machine 3 stars because at $400, I expect some poor quality and it still provided me some value. At a higher price point, this would be a 1 star product.
